Well what a hectic couple of days it's been. Tuesday morning dawned and had to go and see my doctor urgently, who immediately rang the local hospital to get me admitted to the emergency ward. Was told to go along at 2pm in the afternoon and expect to have an operation.
Went to the emergency ward, sat around for a long time and was eventually examined ( which was extremely painful and now I was in more pain then ever before) and told that I needed surgery, the only trouble was there were no beds available on the ward. Was told to report to the ward yesterday morning and I would have surgery in the afternoon.
As someone who has always been fit and healthy, never been in hospital or had anything wrong with me, it was quite a shock to the system but the operation was not bothering me, I just wanted rid of the pain, which I was told would be instantaneous
Anyway, I had the operation yesterday afternoon and everything went smoothly. All the pain has gone and no pain from the surgery either  I'm back home, just got to take things easy for the next 2 or 3 days, then I should be back to my normal self.
Must say though, I work in the NHS, but to experience it from the other side for the first time, I was truly impressed. Everyone was very helpful, put me at my ease, explained things thoroughly to me and carried out their jobs to the highest standards from the nurses, registrars, SHOs, to the theatre staff, etc, etc.
