Well what a hectic couple of days it's been. Tuesday morning dawned and had to go and see my doctor urgently, who immediately rang the local hospital to get me admitted to the emergency ward. Was told to go along at 2pm in the afternoon and expect to have an operation. Went to the emergency ward, sat around for a long time and was eventually examined ( which was extremely painful and now I was in more pain then ever before) and told that I needed surgery, the only trouble was there were no beds available on the ward. Was told to report to the ward yesterday morning and I would have surgery in the afternoon.

As someone who has always been fit and healthy, never been in hospital or had anything wrong with me, it was quite a shock to the system but the operation was not bothering me, I just wanted rid of the pain, which I was told would be instantaneous :D

Anyway, I had the operation yesterday afternoon and everything went smoothly. All the pain has gone and no pain from the surgery either  I'm back home, just got to take things easy for the next 2 or 3 days, then I should be back to my normal self.

Must say though, I work in the NHS, but to experience it from the other side for the first time, I was truly impressed. Everyone was very helpful, put me at my ease, explained things thoroughly to me and carried out their jobs to the highest standards from the nurses, registrars, SHOs, to the theatre staff, etc, etc.

Wow K, hope you feeling better.

I had a simular expererience a few weeks back, taken in for an op at 7.30in the morning, went through all the formalities, and actually given my pre-med for the op, and then told no beds available on the ward for after the op, so i had to go to a side cubicle to chill out while the pre-med had worn off, happiest 4 hours of my life that was.
Two weeks later back in, same routine but had op this time, unfortunately gotta go back again, they did give me a date for yesterday but i had to cancel because it was my son's graduation, so i'm booked again for the 30th August. More pre-med, Yummy Yummy

I have to say though apart from the bed situation, these people ALL deserve a massive pat on the back, i just cannot understand it when someone has a go at the staff when it's all completley out of their hands, just like the tosser with the bad ankle sitting opposite me, the guy with the red holdall, jeans and white Bench T-shirt and pumped up with steroids (god i hope you are a member reading this), you were reading the Sport, and asking everyone for a light for your cigarette and i reminded you where we were, i've had time to chill and reflect on the comments that i made to you, and they have not changed , YOU ARE STILL A F*****G DICK HEAD, so what if they did'nt have a bed, i'm sure there was someone in need of it more than you or i, just take the pre-med and enjoy the view over Swansea bay.

Ah that feels better.

Anyway K, look after yourself. ;)

Blimey K. Kept that one quiet. Thought you'd nipped off for a break not bleedin surgery. Have to say my only experience was amazing too. When you are in need they find the time and space for you. Sorry jactac I don't remember the premeds, just remember a nurse keep saying "open your eyes" "stay with us" I really couldn't be bothered I was too far gone to be bothered. They did their thing and brought me around and I'm still here to plaque my favourite lady.
Take it easy and don't worry about the muck on your Pearl for a while. Make a full recovery and then blitz her

Thanks guys. Yeah, when I was woken up after it was all over, all I kept thinking was, leave me alone, I'm in a real deep sleep and they kept wanting to this, that and other - bless 'em

Bit like that nightmare you had down in the woods, when you woke up next to that Pearl. :Moony:

Hey Special K, sorry to hear you've been under the knife! Hopefully your recovery will continue to be swift and uncomplicated. I work in both the NHS and the private sectors so it's always gratifying to read of a satisfied customer

Thanks L, yes on the road to full recovery, thank goodness. Yeah, the NHS gets knocked alot these days and I also work in the NHS so when you have to experience it from the "other side" then its great to know that NHS staff work extremely hard, under very difficult circumstances, with limited resources to provide excellent care and understanding.

Had a little set back and signed off for a fortnight. Doctor has ordered complete rest so at the moment Pugfest is looking a bit doubtful.
