Worrying Problems

I was browsing some reviews online when I came across these two user reviews @ http://www.whatcar.com/car-reviews/peug ... ws/25934-4, that have really actually worried me.

Owner Review 1.
"I bought the RCZ because I loved its stunning looks but I'v had a number of problems with the clutch and the dashboard. After 2 months of ownership the clutch made a burning smell everytime I used it. The clutch was replaced and now 2 months on Im having problems with the clutch sticking and a burning smell again. Its been back at the peugeot dealer 5 times since I bought it with clutch related problems.

Im also currently filing a warranty claim to have the dashboard replaced because the leather has started sagging in a number of areas around the airvents this looks terrible and Im hoping to have it replaced soon.

I'v just lost total faith in the car and its really ruined my ownership experience. This was my first peugeot and will definitely be my LAST"

Owner Review 2.
"I recently bought an RCZ because I wanted a small coupe which looked nice and had good fuel economy. The RCZ is a stunning looking car but thats the limits of its good points.

I collected the car on the 12th july and obviously I was really excited. However when picking up the car I noticed the chrome arches were badly scratched, I highlighted this to my dealer and was told I had two options, either take the car or order another meaning I'd have to wait another 3-4 months. The dealer really didnt seem to care but as I was excited about the car so I took it anyway.

My second problem was with the leather on the dash it started to crease really badly, so I took it to the dealer who had to install a full new dash. Around a week after the new was was fitted I started hearing rattles coming from the dashboard. I took my RCZ back to the dealer and they attempted to fix the problem, however it still rattles badly and they cant find the route of the problem.

The RCZ is a stunning looking car and drives fairly well but the build quality is just terrible. I had previously owned a peugeot with a lot of faults but I just loved the look of the RCZ so much that I had to have one. I genuinely wish I'd never set eyes on one Its been in and out the dealership constantly since I bought it, just dont be fooled by peugeots marketing saying its a "quailty car" its very poorly built.

Im have currently ordered a BMW 118i and hope to be rid of the RCZ in the next few months"

Has anyone else had problems with their RCZ like the above?

I'm sure the second review was posted on here somewhere, the first one I've not seen before.

I'm I worried - no not really, we have seen some problems over the past 8 months, which Peugeot have stepped up to and have fixed, with regard to dealers that's just down to pot luck I'm afraid.

You will never keep everybody happy - so they will leave, but then again that's no different for any other manufacturer - take a look at other manufacturers sites there are some real corkers out there.

LIke any car the after sales is all down to the individual garage.

Sad to hear that there are some problems cropping up but thats the problem with being the Guineapig for a new car I guess.. some things can slip through Quality Assurance

Unlucky I guess and I have had no build issues, just damage on delivery. But don't think a BMW will be a certain bet. When the 1st Curved 3series came out it was riddled with faults, including rattling dashes, I know, my managers one was replaced.

Indeed.

My folks have had Fords, Vauxhalls, Opels, German cars, Yankee cars and my dad now swears by the Lion.

Totally converted by the 407 and now has just bought another 407 Coupe

Zero quality issues with any of them unlike the other cars.

The dashboard problems do seem worrying although it is only two reviews maybe just a couple of bad cars, im sure even ultra reliable toyota's have the odd problem which annoys owners

Funny you should say that, there's one problem which is not widely mentioned, it's called "oval bore" syndrome which troubles all 1ZZ engines fitted to most Toyota cars - they basically use oil faster than petrol then blow up :wtf: It was corrected in 2003 but can you imagine how many cars are fitted with that engine - 2000 was when it was first installed  Toyota offered an extended warranty to 7 years to try and compensate but cars are past that now so it's becoming a real problem.
