Wet and dry paper

I need some advice on how to use this! The RCZ is fine, however I have today sanded, primed and resprayed a section of my mrs' Fiesta's front spoiler. She damaged it going onto someone's driveway. I'm quite impressed with my handy work  but before I put clear lacquer on I understand I should use wet and dry beforehand to smooth it?

Having done some research it looks like if I use this its like sandpaper? I'm stumped. Assume it is safe to use on car paintwork and once done I just polish it and the paintwork will comeback to normal again?

Any confirmation before I take the plunge with this would be much appreciated :helpme:

Wet and dry is sand paper but to be honest I wouldn't do it unless you have a machine polisher as you will get scratch marks which polishing by hand won't remove. Having said that it does depend on which grade of grit you go for but the least aggressive grit is not going to really do what you want.

To take nibbs out of your paintwork before lacquer, use something called 3m microfine the scratches will have to be covered with more base coat then lacquer straight on top of the base coat.
If you need to de-nibb lacquer then use wet 1000 grit, 1500 grit 3000 grit then polish as normal!

Leave it a few days before polishing if possible because the lacquer will be soft!

Also here's some links for the papers!

Hmmm interesting. Thanks for your replies both

I have the 2000 grit wet n dry from halfords. Will try on the underside of the bumper and see how it comes out. Might just put the lacquer on it tbh - or might it not stick properly?!? :eusa-think:
