Hello all, I would like this post to stay in this the general section as I feel it will be more noticed hopefully by Peugeot. If possible by the mods!

Well I'm honestly not sure what to do, i'll start from first car which was a 207. I had a lot of problems with it! Always got serviced on time by robins and day Newcastle, then whenever I had the electrical problem with it I took it in they sorted it right away! Loved this service from them!

After 3 years I wanted a new car, so looking around and I couldn't decide till I seen the rcz. BANG I'd fell in love I think the same feeling as everyone else on here! I even bought the car in full from robins and day Newcastle!
I first had a problem around 10000 miles when I started the car it had a weird noise really struggling to tick over
I then took it to robins and day in Gateshead as my college is 2 mins away from there they said it was because of synthetic oil which goes to the bottom of the sump when the engine is switched off and the oil chain is drying up!
Okay I understand you don't want to sort it out! (This problem is still there)
Then my second problem started as the mirrors started to grind at about 13000 mile (Took another 11000 mile before getting sorted out) MORE LATER..
My third problem is I believe my steering rack or column has collapsed there is a knock on steering wheel but disappears when the car warms up!
Anyways I've always had good service with robins and day but from my first problem I got to take it to Richard Hardie in ashington as it closest to me! When i told them I needed a courtesy car but I'm only 20 and ill try to get insurance sorted, I couldn't so I said when I arrived i still need to sort the insurance out, I got my key showed where the car was and then was too leave, I though they must have insured me on there insurance, although they didn't look at my licence or anything!
I got home that night and though I best check! Unfortunately they were closed but my dad rung them in the morning! And found out I wasn't insured!
Imagine the consequences that may have occurred if I was in an accident or ran someone over! Lucky I never.
I said I would never use them again.
Now back to the mirrors, I heard them about 13000 mile complained about 15000 miles took the car in on 24000 mile, Colour is off on the new mirrors they said they need to re paint them as there was a hair in the lacquer, they also said my strut top bearing had collapsed then they were looking for the problem with knock on steering wheel!

I only want the problems sorted! They shouldn't be there even before I got the car I knew about them! At a meet recently in Yorkshire I expressed how happy I was to be ordering the new 2013 rcz facelift! I was even thinking about getting the rcz r when it is released! But I have cancelled that order because I'm only going to get the problems again,
The car is only 13 month old! I actually don't like driving it anymore!
I can't justify losing 10 grand in a year and then buying another one to lose 15 grand

Well that's all I really have to say I hope Peugeot take on board everything I and nearly every other rcz owner said and sort it out soon cause I really can't afford to leave the car there another week - 2 weeks and drive a 107/207!

Thanks for reading!
Dan

Hi Dan

I'm sorry to hear about your on-going problems. After reading and re reading your post I would suggest you try another dealer. Why can't you take it back to R&D in Newcastle where you had good service in the past? I know you say it's more out of your way but if their service is good, surely it is worth trying them again? As we have read many times on this forum there are varying experiences with dealerships. When you find a good one, stick with them. Give R&D a ring, explain your situation and I'n sure they would be more than willing to help you out.

Good luck :)

Well that truly is an unsettling post. I think you have serious cause to feel aggrieved at your dealer's gross incompetence. I presume the mirrors weren't painted in-house as this is normally outsourced. However, I am appalled to read that they did not do more to rectify this.

I would echo RCZ1's remarks about visiting the dealer that you received a better service from. This may not make up for the shoddy service that you have received recently but, at least, you should finally get things moving in the right direction.

As for the point about the insurance, did you not wonder when they didn't take a copy of your licence, ask you to sign paperwork regarding excesses etc? I would have been querying this before driving off. You were obviously aware that there was an issue given your age so I'm a little surprised that you didn't query this.

They did sort it out the hair apparently, I feel it was more of an excuse to sort out something else!

About the insurance, it was the first time I had a courtesy car so didn't really know what to do!
Lessons learned, I do take some responsibility for just driving away but I could have been anybody on the street and could have even had a provisional licence! Protocol had not been followed.

Cheers dan!

I don't want to sound harsh but does it really matter if you get a 107/207 as a courtesy car, if at the end of the day, they sort your car out? It's not going to be permanent. I'm sure your street cred can cope with it for a little while :)
As I said before, give this other garage a ring, explain your situation and take it from there.

Well at least there were no more serious consequences and I understand where you are coming from. At least you'll know for next time.

I'm concerned that your experiences of the car have been soured by poor dealings with your local dealer. I've had a number of shoddy experiences with my own dealer and empathise fully. Peugeot were excellent in helping me rectify the problems that I had and am sure that they'll come through for you.

I suppose i can live with the courtesy car after all I'd only be drive for 20mins at the most!

Lets see what happens tomorrow when I call them! Hopefully they can sort it! Just a bit of a bummer think I've only had it for about 40 weeks out of the 60 :/ haha

Wow...

Firstly, all of your problems should be viewed with much more seriousness by the dealer, for instance their comments on synthetic oil are garbage unless you've had some cans from decades ago hanging around waiting to use (multiples of decades), then it is if anything less likely to lose viscosity over mineral oil, this is what it is designed to do. The mirrors seem a common problem, they'd find that arguing against the wealth of evidence at very least on these forums. Your steering issues are a huge safety concern, even if just a perceived issue they should be investigated in full.

As for the courtesy car, you're mostly going to get the bottom of the range unless you put up a good fight. Insurance though is your bag, the entire emphasis is on you to ensure you have it, don't feel you have to leave without checking, it is your right to ask for evidence of insurance if they are providing it and if you are told otherwise, take your car and leave.

I would suggest formulating all of your issues into an non-emotive letter to Peugeot UK and demand from them a level of service above and beyond what you have experienced. Mileage on dealerships does seem to vary, but have no illusions that keeping your business is far more important to the suits than anything else, especially after another year of missed corporate goals.

Furthermore, I would alert the GM of the dealership to the problems and issues that you have encountered. Frequently they seem to be totally unaware of the issues that customers encounter and they should be alerted customer's dissatisfaction. You are the consumer and you do have an awful lot of power...

100 percent agreed! As I've said lessons learned I just wanted to point out that fact it happened and it shouldn't!
I agree that is my responsibility to check before driving a vehicle.
Saying this I don't agree that I am aloud to drive away in the car without even haven my licence looked at!
Lucky there is was not a problem! Last night i was talking to my dad and he told my that I would have been insured via his policy as its any driver full comp with 3rd party on any car to all drivers named on the policy (which I am).
But he also told me to just get rid of the car! He did wait 6month to tell me about this but I think he's trying to teach me a lesson!

It does make me feel a little better know that it would have been fine!
But I still feel protocol was not followed in the matter!

I don't like demanding things i just want the problems sorted out!
I don't like complaining either but It's went on for too long!

Hi Dan - this certainly is an interesting thread and thanks for highlighting it. I passed this onto my colleagues in Pinley House yesterday and they've asked the customer care team to look into it. Hopefully they'll be in touch with you in the next few days..

Thanks,

Liz

This goes for me too Dan. I believe that a whole lot more can be achieved by reasoned discussion. I firmly believe that Peugeot UK will assist you in getting a satisfactory resolution to ALL of your issues/concerns. Stay calm, polite and reasonable and all will come good in the end.

I really do hope that your love of your RCZ will return and your enthusiasm that we saw from you at the Yorkshire meet will return

It's easier that way I think! And also I hope I does too!

That's great news car woes can be real frustrating and very stressful but will you buy another ?All this hassle in a car a year old No l wouldn't buy another rcz if l where you they do have issues mechanically that shouldn't be there at all in car so young.Peugeot are beginning to become like Fiat where, bulid quality is definitely below par in the rcz hence really bad residuals.I was shocked the other day when l saw a 200 gt 60 plate 19k miles from a dealer at £14,000,vision pack, satnav,
