Driving home last Thursday 8/1/26 just reached a mile from the driveway & it dropped into limp mode read the codes next day with P1062-P1030 Variable lift system Position regulation-Variable valve lift System stuck ? Vanos failure but which one ??
Ordered 2 new solenoids then stripped both of them out on a lovely freezing cold morning (You should always change the inlet & exhaust together!) also checked the oil filler cap & that was full of custard so obvious reasons were the was engine running too cold on short runs but did this cause the oil to deteriorate so badly badly causing the VVT valves to malfunction ?
Oil changed again less than 3000Klm then scanned the fault codes & clear then rescan making sure the ignition was on/off on/off twice then car run up to temp & left to idle for 20 mins switch off & then rescan before road test leaving everything reset to normal
One to watch out for in cold snaps !
