Upgrade questions - LSD, intercooler, intake, exhaust...

Hi guys!

Second year trying to participate at local Time Attack series and now is the time to think about real technical upgrades. First of all I will upgrade a suspension. As I know the very best "bolt-on" solution is the KW variant2. Am I right? Any other advises about suspension?

The second upgrade for me is definitely LSD. And there is the question - should I use a diff from RCZ R? Will it be a "bolt-on" solution if I will only order a 16 107 585 80 part like imaged on the picture below? I have compared part numbers of other components around - all the same in the 200THP version of gearbox.

Or should I use another aftermarket diff like this - http://shop.rczperformance.com/product. ... egoryId=47 (it's a twice more expensive... why? )

The third upgrade for my RCZ will be intercooler and intake system. And again the question is - should I use an "R" intercooler or some like this - http://shop.rczperformance.com/product. ... egoryId=19 ? The price is almost the same for coolers. As for the intake - I didn't found any redy-to-go solution (only a K&N filter replacement, which I already have). There are some for the 156-version (like this one - http://shop.rczperformance.com/product. ... egoryId=19) but no one for 200THP. Should I get some universal intake and then try to attach it? Any advice appreciated.

And the last before remapping ECU is the exhaust. I'm already have a Remus Quad-Tip system but it's have no real effect on power. So should I remove catalytic converter from the OEM system or use some replacement like this - http://shop.rczperformance.com/product. ... tegoryId=2 ? Will it be any difference? And should I replace other parts of the exhaust system and get more tube diameter? Any other upgrades?

P.S. I'm also was looking for the brakes upgrade but it's too expensive... Anyone have an experience of using this pads and disks - http://shop.rczperformance.com/product. ... goryId=142 in real life and on track? Is there any real difference between this and OEM?

Are you looking at making your RCZ a full-time time-attack car or just having a daily street driven RCZ and doing some local time-attack events but nothing really serious?

Rcz is my everyday all-year car, so nothing "hard".

By the time you have upgraded to thoses components the cost would probably be the same as you replacing your car to a R version, would that nor be a better solution?

I'm afraid it's impossible now to sell RCZ in my country for acceptable price... And the "R" is too expensive here in Ukraine, so I must add about 30 grands - and for THAT money here is a plenty of better cars (i'm sorry Peugeot).

Apologies for the delay.

Since you are wanting to keep your car streetable, then you must consider reliability.

All of the items you mention can still provide both street and track use.

In regards to the LSD, we cannot confirm that you can use the 'R' items within a non-'R' version RCZ's. The LSD we sell is for non-'R' versions.

When it comes to other items such as induction, we cannot confirm you can use 'R' items or not, this would be your gamble. But of course you have a choice to get items that have been developed and tested for the THP200 that we sell. This also applies to filter setup. We are looking at an option for the THP200 similar to the one for the THP156. If the one we are looking at is feasible for the THP200, then we will announce it on our Facebook page.

If you remove the catalytic with down pipe, you should be getting a remap done. A remap is always recommended when you start to truly change the induction and exhaust of the car so that you can take full advantage of the changes, just bolting them on may not result in much and/or goes against how the car should run.

For the brakes, if you have Sport brakes then no need to change them to be honest, except for different discs and pads.

Look to replace your rubber bushes with firmer urethane bushes.

See if you can get camber caster top hat for the car, it will make a massive difference to the ability to set the car up.

Get 18's vs the 19 inch wheels.

Replace all the fuilds with higher quality race spec stuff. You will need it to handle the higher operating temps.

Get a good oil cooler. You don't want your oil going over 120 degree C, it will start to thin and degrade.

Get some much stiffer engine and gearbox mounts.

Ditch the quad exhaust, get a single pipe. Quads are for looks, they just add weight.

Look to remove as much weight as you can.

Get some good gauges for oil temp, water temp, oil pressure. At a min you don't want to pop the engine because you don't know your running hot or losing oil pressure.

What are you finding the issues with the car are? Understeer? Lack of grip out of the corners? Slow turn in? Under powered?

If anyone needs to ditch their quads, I, being the public spirited person that I am, will happily take them off their hands, and I won't even charge for doing it :eusa-whistle:

Thank you all for the advices.

First of all I will answer last questions:
Understeer? Yes, a little bit. But as for FWD how can I improve it?
Lack of grip out of the corners? Yes, much lack of it. Even with good tires - I think lsd can fix it?
Slow turn in? Not at all. Slow at the out of the corner)
Under powered? Of course, power is never enough.

Look to replace your rubber bushes with firmer urethane bushes.
Any aftermarket "bolt-on"? Or I need to find something can be fitted?

See if you can get camber caster top hat for the car, it will make a massive difference to the ability to set the car up.
Great, but any "ready-to-go" solutions for RCZ?

Get 18's vs the 19 inch wheels.
Already have both. 18" are heavier. And my own results on 19" with same tyres are far better - about half a second each minute... All the time.

Replace all the fuilds with higher quality race spec stuff. You will need it to handle the higher operating temps.
Any advises here? I'm driving on track 5-7 days a year for two years already. Never change any fluid on no-stock one actually :eusa-think:

Get a good oil cooler. You don't want your oil going over 120 degree C, it will start to thin and degrade.
How can I understand that I need it? Never had problems before (65k km passed on RCZ)

Get some much stiffer engine and gearbox mounts.
Yes, I was thinking about it but can't find any 100% fit solution for RCZ :(

Ditch the quad exhaust, get a single pipe. Quads are for looks, they just add weight.
Not so much weight I think. About 2 kilo - so for everyday look I will keep it)

Look to remove as much weight as you can.
Yes, if it was my track-only car. But for the everyday use... I don't know - I will not remove seats or stereo or air conditioner...

Get some good gauges for oil temp, water temp, oil pressure. At a min you don't want to pop the engine because you don't know your running hot or losing oil pressure.
Never had my onboard (dashboard) temp sensor showing more than 90 degrees...
