Hi there my 156 gt went in for the timing kit on 21st of August I phoned today and there still waiting on the guides but have the other parts needed for the repair , I've been told I should get her back on Thursday / Friday all sorted , fingers crossed ,but they have been an excellent service team ,,,I've got 1 question though how does anyone know if the new timing kit to be fitted is the redisgned one Iam sure there will still be the old kits in stock or would they all have been scraped ? Just hope there's no more chain issues after the fix

Good question.

If you can, ask what the part numbe of the replacement items are. There is more than one of us on the forum that has access to the online Peugeot parts data base. That normally has info. on this kind of thing. It may be that more info. can be dug up from there.

Ok thanks for the reply , you would think that with all the timing chain problems and it being late 2014 only new parts would be available , do you know what was redisgned and how it differs in operation from the failing parts ?

Pete garret I spoke to the technition who fixed the timing chain , I asked about the old and new tensioner and he said there part numbered and he hasn't seen a old tensioner for a couple of yrs , he told me the new 1 is much stronger and has a spring inside or something , he said on mine everything was changed tensioner , guides chain ,bearings or cogs something along them lines and I wouldn't have any problems timing chain wise in the future ,, fingers crossed
