Sport, GT, Confusion

I recently bought a 2013 RCZ from a dealership under the guise 'Sport THP200'. When i viewed the car I noticed that it had the spec of a GT model....so I kept quiet hoping to bag a GT spec at a Sport price tag...and to sweeten the deal, i got another grand off.

anyway, the V5 just dropped onto my door mat and sure enough its a Sport variant. my insurance also states this as does the Peugeot website VIN checking thingy....

The car has full electric/heated leather seats, Xenon lamps, front and rear parking aids, sport steering wheel, short shift box and 19" technical alloys.

my question is, why wouldn't you just buy the GT?!

Hi, sounds like you have a GT there! I may be proven wrong but I thought all sport models were the 156 variant and the 200 thp were GT spec.

Anyway sounds like you got a great deal and a super motor!

Mine is a 156bhp GT-spec.

I believe there are suspension modifications between the 156 and 200 regardless of spec (I think the smaller steering wheel is a 156/200-thing rather than a Sport/GT-thing). The only thing missing from your list is whether the seats are heated. If they are, then you are right in saying that is pretty much all the differences between the Sport and GT. Unless the brakes are also different? Again, not sure if that is a 156/200 or Sport/GT difference.

Also the JBL stereo system is standard in GT spec.
If you don't have it then it's not a GT.

I have everything that a GT spec car has exept the JBL system. In Sweden we didnt had GT to choose from.

You can buy a sport model and then add extras.
Or you can buy a sports model and not add extras and save some money.
It may be that when the car was originally bought the purchaser was told a waiting time of eg 8 months, but was told you can buy a sport spec it up and it will cost similar to the GT model but you get it sooner.

The differences between 156 & 200 (engine/chassis wise) have always been the same.

It's the trim level that is different, eg the GT model may have come with sports steering wheel and gear level, but initially they would all have come with the standard ones.
