Good Morning Chaps,

Right then, after months and months of looking around, searching and getting insurance quotes I have found my new favourite object. I have been through a stringent searching process which initially saw me settling on a Z4 Coupe (3.0ltr), quickly followed by a TT and then finally realising those cars really aren't my "thing" and deciding on a 207 cc GT. After getting a couple of prices on the cc GT I was grabbing a water in the Peugeot showroom when I noticed my Dad looking around the RCZ sitting, pride of place, in the centre. Thirty seconds later I am sitting in the cockpit with my Dad in the drivers seat and we're both dreaming about cruising along the backroads back home in it.

....so she gives me a couple of prices on the Sport edition and I realise (holy sweet criping Gods) I could actually comfortable afford the Sport edition RCZ, in black...THEN (she was good) she throws a mental few extras into this increasingly interesting equation:

SalesLady - "Warl, now, we've actually just received our RCZ Asphalt that is about to take pride of place ahead of that GT model in the centre of the showroom, which means we are going to need someone to take that Charcoal GT edition off our hands.."

Now, I am sitting in my bed on a Sunday morning, writing a brief account of how I now own a Charcoal GT (semi-auto) RCZ which I pick up on Saturday. The only extra I asked for (and I said it was a deal breaker) is that I get the matt black 19" rims. The rest they say, is l'histoire.

:D :D I. CANNOT. CHUFFING. WAIT. :D :D

One question though. As always. This is my first sports car ever and I'd sure like to take care of it. I looked into one of those RCZ all weather covers as the car will only really be used two or three times a week to keep the ol miles off it (Weekends and Fridays when I don't ride into work). After finding out the price of them :shock: :shock: I don't think it's something I really want to spend £300.00 on.

Any cheaper options or suggestions with the pending Winter ahead...

Well I'm guessing that you are moderately excited and so you should be. You are about to become the owner of a fantastic and fun car. It also sounds as though you had a pleasant buying experience too.

Personally I wouldn't want to put a cover over my Pearl2 as I would be too afraid that it would get scratched by the cover being whipped and blown about in the wind. Apart from that what do you do with the wet cover once you have removed it?

My suggestion would be to pay a similar figure circa £300 and let a good detailer loose on your pride and joy for a day. They would lavish love and attention upon her and leave her clean, shiny and with a beautiful wax coat to protect her from our inclement weather.

I would agree with Ron on the All Weather Cover, peasonaly i dont like anything sitting on the paintwork for a period of time.
You could also do as Ron says and get the paint detailed and have a quality wax applied, which would need "topping up" every few months to keep a good level of protection on the paint.

Another option is to have the dealer apply a "paint protection treatment" , basicaly they polish the car to remove any contamination like water marks ect, it's very important that the polishing and cleaning of the paint prior to the sealer going on is done correctly, after this they then apply a "paint sealer",this is what holds in the shine but protects from acid rain, uv light, ect ect.

I had my Opal White treated with Gardx at the dealers, and i can honestly say i find it excellent, even just washing the car is so simple, the dirt just falls off with a hose and the paint still feels slippery and smooth just like it has been waxed, my car is now 5 months old and sitting on the drive in the ever changing Welsh weather, and the paint still looks and feels like it just come out of the showroom.

The cost of the treatment is around £200 but you do get a written 3 year gaurantee and aftercar kit, and if you want you can still polish and wax on top of the treatment if you desire, as long as you do not use a cutting polish or clay bar as this will remove the treatment. I use Autoglym Super Resin Polish if i feel the car needs a bit of a polish as there are no cutting agents in it.

You could see if your dealer will do a deal on the treatment with you, mine did !

I'm very happy that i decided to have the treatment applied to my car, and it still gives me the option to polish and wax if i want to, but in all honesty just washing the car leaves it shiny and water just beads off the paint.

You can buy a sealer and apply it youself, but you have to get the preparation done 100%, and it's this preparation that your paying for really, because the actual product is not that expensive to buy, plus you dont get the gaurantee if you do it yourself.

There are a few different companies offering this type of treatment, and most main dealers offer the treatment, heres a couple of links to look at.

I would agree with 0058RON and jactac about the cover. Just don't do it :thumbdown:

If the car is well protected with a sealant or a wax then it will be well protected stood outside, even during the winter.
If you want another option then think about similar money for a professional detailer to apply Gtechniq to your car. Like the Gardx, it is a sealant but this has a 5 year guarantee and is applied by trained professional detailers. There is a member who had a Gtechniq detail done on theirs and is shown in the gallery.

Wow, tons of forum love. Quality.

Detailers...never heard of them, I take it from what everyone has said they just make love to your car for a few hours and it comes back mature and sexier but mainly a lot more protected from the elements.

I live down in Kent, are there many around? I read of one near Brands, which is lovely, could whip it round for a spin :D

I wouldn't have a clue what to ask for but I am sure I just tell them that I want it protected for Winter and looking shiny time...

Ah prettypaula I'd LOVE to, however, I am a lover also of triathlon and have one in the morning and it's my first Olympic distance. I have a feeling I might be laying on a floor somewhere.

It's going to be so frustrating having just picked up sex on wheels, then going to drive Pa's 207SW so I can get my bike in the back...booooooo

I CANNOT WAIT. I shall get photos up when I can. Mum on the ol insurance really does knock it down! Cheeky

...guys, while I am on the subject of deliciously crafted cars: the USB port in the armrest, would that power my HDD? I have an external HDD that I was thinking I could smash all my iTunes on it and leave in the armrest, hidden but plugged in all the time. That way I have beautiful music to jazz up any ride anywhere...ever.

... quick WELCOME, and agree with the NO cover, cost someone I know a small fortune to get rid of the marks one made on his pride and joy after a windy night.

Why would you let some else/detailer "touch up" your car!!!! :eusa-think: Are you...STRANGE is your RCZ...DIRTY? :? :lol: Book a day off, save yourself some money and spend the day rubbing and caressing the RCZ...you know you want to!! :shock:
