Snapped key!!!

Dont worry it my wife's merc!
It's stuck in the ignition - just had the car recovered - god knows how much the repair will be?

That's pretty nuts!! I imagine they'll take out the ignition barrel. It's not that big a job. Dodgy German craftsmanship!

Oops that's not good, maybe an easy job to sort out but ya better get your overdraft sorted, new key alone I'd think be around £50. Bloody Germans!!!

Wowsa not everyday that happens. That's a pretty old merc key though. Not sure they make pre war keys anymore

new keys are around the £200 mark it was for my honda :shock: :shock:

Thing is , the broken bit is stuck inside they barrel!

Think your best and cheapest option would be to go to the local scrap dealer and get a new barrel with key. Easy enough fitted

I dont know to be honest. The garage got an auto locksmith in.
I now have two new blades on the keys, and an empty barrel .
I think he got the piece out and cut me 2 new keys- its that old there is no coding to be done.

I know someone who had to pay a total of £800 to his dealer when he snapped his key in the ingnition of his new Fiat Punto.
All it needed was a new barrel and key plus the key needed programming.
Shocking price. :x
