I had a visitor on Saturday. He travelled over to my place to collect one of the jacking aids, but bought two as it turns out. :thumbup:

The reason for this post is that he mentioned in conversation something that made me feel rather ashamed of our forum He owns a 63 plate Opal HDi with feline exhaust bought through the group buy and a RCZ R gear knob bought from RCZ performance. What he said was that he no longer posts on the forum as a result of the backlash he received for not posting images of his car. Apparently he received a lot of unpleasant PM's. I have always believed that we offered a warm welcome to all new members and assisted members by answering questions/queries as they raise them. So this enlightenment was a real shocker to me and left me feeling somewhat uncomfortable

My thinking is that he has got caught up in the kaminski fiasco and it was incorrectly assumed that smarty was yet another of kaminski's pseudonymes. I realise that we cannot turn the clock back, however I just felt that we should all be aware of this situation.

I think you make a good point Ron. I cannot understand why anyone would send any other forum member abusive PM's. Even Kaminski never bothered me as much as he obviously did some others.

It's entirely personal choice whether a member posts photos or not. I would hope that all members are equally welcome either way.

I think you're like myself mac, you simply ignore the Kaminski type posts. There is one member that I'm currently taking this action with.

I would just point out that i have been the victim of some posts from senior members also.And i dont know anything about whats happened in the past.I dont suppose your visitor was kaminski ?.Thats me started it now. Get a life .

Recent events got out of hand, and hopefully it is behind us all. Several accounts were linked to kaminski, and were banned.
So lets all start a fresh and stop accusing people. Even if kaminski has returned under another user, they have not broken any rules and so is currently not a problem.

The moderators or admin will take any necessary action if/when its required.

I find this all rather sad. If smarty did receive unpleasant PMs then those members should be warned regarding future conduct as this breaks forum rules. Smarty should have reported the abusive PMs.

Furthermore I've already reported my thoughts on a reincarnation of Kaminski and my report was duly deleted! The guy is making a laughing stock of our forum. It's plain to see it's the same person. Phrases, posts are all very similar and feigning being hard done to, is just a joke.

This is seriously diminishing my enjoyment of the forum. Sad sad days.

It's the failure to respond that escalates the problem. We appear to all too willing to allow disruption rather than face the issue. To actually say " Even if kaminski has returned under another user, they have not broken any rules and so is currently not a problem." is simply ignoring the actual rule that is available to resolve the issue. He is so disruptive and creates an atmosphere that was not previously present and creates the circumstances that was likely to have been the cause of the issue raised in this thread. I know that I shouldn't really say these things, but I felt truly ashamed on Saturday.

If someone decides that they no longer wish to post because of abusive PMs then that's a shame but if the person isn't willing to complain or otherwise highlight it, there's not much either I or the rest of the team or community can do about it.

However I do think that some people need to grower thicker skins. Why would you just disappear without even raising the issue? Seems a bit weird to me to be honest.

The fact is this is a car forum, not a sewing circle. Unfortunately like all walks of life there will be a minority element that (try to) spoil things for the rest of us. AND much like being down the pub, you may not agree or want to listen to every person that chooses to interact. If you were being harassed then you'd complain to the bouncers but I don't think you'd get much of a response from the man at the door by complaining about someone's point of view or tiring of their chat.

At this point I have no firm evidence that Kaminsky has returned under a pseudonym and unless the person that some people are suspicious about breaks any rules I will not take steps to remove them.

People should not be banned simply for being annoying. If you don't like someone, ignore them. It is only words on a page after all. It's easy enough to skip past the ones you don't like.

Thanks for a most sensible post with no other agenda.Now can we all get on with the forum and leave the egos behind.That seems to be the problem here since i registered from what i have seen. No one is forced to be here if they do`nt want to be?
Its a forum for good or bad not an ego trip for some.

I agree to some extent with you Derek but in my experience this is the first forum many RCZ owners have ever experienced therefore they are not quite sure what to expect or indeed what the protocols are. It's not the first time the forum has experienced something like this and in my time as a Mod I received far too many PMs from new members who felt the same way as smarty. Some I managed to persuade to stay, with others I was not so lucky.

The reincarnation I feel is very obvious and from the outside looking in, I think it is plain to see. I understand you have protocols but for me the guy is just rolling around laughing heartily at us with a very large smug grin on his face. I note his Photobucket account is almost the same as a previous email address for one of the pseudonyms.

Ok. But why exactly is that, in itself, a problem for you? I can't ban someone for being smug...

You may remember I've been victim of someone doing this very thing, twice now. Both times they felt compelled to drag my name through the mud. I'm sorry but that's not why we all come onto a forum. The majority of members participate courteously. Why should the minority ruin it for the rest of us?

Again I don't see how this is a worry for you or affects your personal usage of the forum, moving forward.

I think we'll just deal with issues on a case by case basis. I don't think that we're suddenly going to have an invasion of trouble makers simply because I'm not adopting a totalitarian approach to the rules.

The minority is not currently ruining it for the rest of us as far as I can tell. If that changes, I'll take appropriate action.
