Rusty rear dampers?

Whilst jacking up the rcz to put winters on today. I noticed that the two rear dampers were rusty on the inside, looked worn. Not leaking though. Seemed to be caused by their covers. As you wouldn't notice them when the dampers were in their normal driving position. Would this be considered to be normal wear & tear to a 2014 car? Still have 2 months manufacturers warranty remaining, due for it's first MOT in Jan 2017.
Thanks.

I would have it in for a "free" safety check. I haven't heard of anyone having to have rear dampers replaced within the warranty period, so I wouldn't have thought it normal.

You wouldn't normally notice them, unless you were to jack the back end up. Whilst the damper is down. I'll post some pics in a few days, when I get chance to take the wheel off again.
Cars due for an MOT, service in Jan. Still under warranty then, will mention it to the stealers.
Just uploaded some pic's.

On reflection. I think the rust was caused by the dust shield rubbing the paint off. Wear and tear. Nothing to worry about.
