Hi,
Just got my 200 gt petrol RCZ and I am abit worried about how high the RPM's are, It is sitting at 3200 rpms in 6th gear at 70mph. Could someone let me know if this is normal please, as my old 156 bhp never reached that high. Thanks

Sounds about right to me at about 22 mph per thousand rpm - I've got the same engine / gearbox.

BTW what is it that's worrying you?

Cheers guys,
I am a bit worried because my old 156 would sit at 3000 rpm in 6th at 80mph. I realise the 200 has a different gearbox but still seems a little high on the rpms for 70mph in 6th. Its fuel consumption is quite bad as well, (I do try to drive quite economically most of the time!). Husband is also asking do you know at what stage the turbo kicks in? Thanks for you help

It's not the biggest turbo so spools up from under 2000rpm but obviously it won't really pull the air in until your foots pressed down

Regarding mileage, on a trip from Carlisle to just north of London over the dales to Scotch Corner & down the A1 my trip computer reported just over 51 mpg.

That's a 200 bhp petrol Gt. I used cruise control wherever possible, set to 65 mph. The roads were clear and it was an easy run.

A manual calculation of fuel used and milage covered showed a slightly lesser figure, but this included other milage at different road conditions, so I guess that's to be expected since it would include more urban driving as oppose to open road cruising.

On this basis, I think the RCZ fuel consumption is pretty good, even in it's highest power guise.

On my old 306gti6, I always got 28mpg, no matter how I drove it. (no cruise control though, obviously)

In the HDi at 70mph, I'm sitting at 2k RPM

But idle at the lights you sound like a truck!

I have been driving diesel cars for the past 25+ yrs, by far the one that sounded most like a tractor was a Sierra with a 2.1 York engine, the least has to be the RCZ, well done Peugeot.

I shouldn't bother trying to educate the petrol heads. Allow them to think they are correct, whilst we continue to get better MPG whilst retaining phenomenal acceleration  Our engines will outlive It's petrol equivalent so we shall have the last laugh

My RCZ 156 BHP

70 mph ........ 2100 rpm
75 mph ........ 2400 rpm
80 mph ........ 2700 rpm

That was on a relatively flat stretch of motorway :)
