replacing audio control stalk end

Hi RCZ guys
Has anyone replaced the end of the audio control stalk? Does it just pull out or do you really have to remove the steering wheel? The girl on the Peugeot service desk has quoted £125 quid for replacement of a £20 part!

I'm sure you only have to remove the column shroud on more modern models.
