yes i ve been there

you should expect around 190 hp (if you haven't changed anything else) but you will have problems on hot days due to the very small intercooler

(when i say problems i mean loss of power)

Hi all, just a follow up on my remap, firstly for anyone thinking of having a remap done the ECU has to be removed from the car to do the remap  as it can't be done through the OBD port. So a tad awkward to remove due to the anti tamper shear bolts securing the ECU in place. I left the job to a mate (Top Mazda technician) On the re install new shear bolts were used not only making it secure but back to factory look so no one would think it had been off!

So the results :eusa-think:
Just pulling the car off the drive it somehow felt smoother but could this just be the placebo effect?? But no once warmed up a good hard run well up into 3 figures the car pulls so smoothly going to the redline in the first 4 gears totally seamless power loads more grunt lower down the rev range but the thing that amazes me is how quiet and unstressed the engine feels loads smoother and a totally better drive well worth the money!

So if your considering a remap I would definitely recommend doing it just use a recommended outfit.

Cost me £190 if you want the guys number drop me a PM for his number he's based in castleford west Yorkshire.

Just working out the expenses, £190 for the remap, £400 for the quads, then there's just the £4000 for the divorce lawyer :brickwall:

Pete you could use the excuse that the increase in fuel economy wich the remap claims (yet to be proven) will pay for itself? Worth a try

That's kind of a little like the "if I get the alloys re-furbished it will increase the resale value" argument I put forwards.

That didn't work either :brickwall:

Take it in for a service and tell the wife there was an ecu fault and it cost 190 to fix...

If she asks the fault, just say the software needed an update as it wasn't running as well as it should...

That could work, although she's already said that if the car starts costing us money, that will be the time to get rid.... :brickwall:

Maybe I should have adopted that ethos, "when my wife starts costing me money, it's time to get rid"

That would have been @ 16 years ago :eusa-think:

I could have had an R by now :brickwall:

YOu need to start doing what one of the guys at my work did.

Setup a seperate bank account that your pay goes into, then Transfer what you "tell" your wife your pay is, so you have a small amount of secret play money...

Well this is getting confusing!

freelockuk - Your 'flash remap' sounds interesting but I must admit I don't really know much about this type of thing so could you tell me more please? How much did it cost / what's involved / power gains, etc.? Thanks!
