Hi there, would like some advice on what's best with regard to oil type for topping up on a 2012 RCZ 2 litre diesel engine. I've just bought 5 litres of 5 40 oil but having seen other posts 'Total 5 30' seems to be the more favourable oil. Is there any problem using what I've putchsed or would I need to change it for the Total product instead? Is there any real difference between the two as I know a bit regarding engines and the low number I believe is related to assist and give protection to the engine start up at low temperatures so I don't think it makes a massive difference in what I've bought but would welcome any advise. Thanks in advance.

There will not be a great deal of difference you can use Total quartz Ineo 5w 30 in a diesel & 5w 40 will give better protection use under prolonged higher loads of engine performance one recommendation is never mix different grades of oil when topping up

Thank you for your response, appreciated. Having since have spoken to my uncle who's been in the trade for years he,as you said there isn't a great difference,it's dependant on milage which if honest probably do about 300 miles per week so I'll see if it's any different ..cheers for your response though 👍
