RCZ Servicing?

New RCZ owner here! :)

Purchased a 60 plate RCZ GT THP 156 last weekend, nice upgrade from my previous car (a little Renault Clio Campus!).

The dealer I brought it from (Lookers Peugeot Garage) have offered me a car service plan, basically pay £13.99 per month for 12 months and then I'll get the service all paid for in a year's time. Only thing is I've done a bit of research online and it says the RCZ only needs to be serviced every 2 years, or 20000 miles (bearing in mind it's only just been serviced). I queried this with the dealer earlier and he said that as I do low mileage (only approx 4000 per year, practically all city driving), it would need a yearly service due to all the stopping and starting. Is this correct?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm, sounds like b*llsh*t to me mate.
As I understand it Peugeots 2012 and older need a full service ever 2yrs. Cars newer than this need full service every 12 months (or sooner if HIGH mileage/rough use).
It was a change of policy by Peugeot back in 2012.

Can't see that city use will be classed as especially rough use unless you thrash it between each traffic lights/junctions

Might be worth having an oil and filter change after 12 months - but that's all. Not a full service.

Probably yes.

Your style of driving would be classified as 'arduous conditions'.

This should be described in the service book. Newer RCZs have a different service schedule at 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

Really? - but he's only doing 4k miles Peter. I know its in the city - but I'd still say just a oil/filter change.

I think it'll come under the consideration of short trip, stop-start driving conditions, rather than pure mileage.

The conditions for arduous use are shown on page 10 of my warranty booklet. It says if one or more of the following apply, a specific servicing plan will be needed:

1)Continuous door to door use
2) urban use (as a taxi, ambulance, average speed below 12mph)
3) repeated short journeys (below 6 miles) with cold engine (after stopping over 1 hour)
4) extended use in dusty countries, countries where fuel does not meet Peugeot standards
5) even occasional use of B20/B30 biofuel.

Now, from the description given, I reckon either 1 and/or 2 could apply here, leading - if you follow the guidance of Peugeot - to a more frequent serving schedule.

OK, fairy-nuff.
As you probably know I don't have an owners manual at this point, so you have me beat there.

Yes - 100%

You should definitely be getting an annual service.
City driving - stop / start, braking, oil working hard, clutch in / out (hopefully not shaking all about), etc.

Don't be so tight and look after your Baby - You know she deserves it

The servicing schedules changed around July 2012.

Prior to this date car schedule service was 2 year or 20k which ever came soonest (with an interim service for I think oil and oil filter change - the inbetween year).
After this date 1 year or 20k which ever came first.
