RCZ R Media System

Hi all,

I took delivery of my new white RCZ R a couple of weeks ago and I'm completely smitten! I previously had a Charcoal 200 Sport which I loved, thought about a different car, but went with the R and I'm so pleased!

However, one little niggle and I wonder if anyone can help. If the car hasn't run for a few hours, the media system doesn't boot up for approx 15 minutes - so no music, satnav, reversing info - media screen is completely blank. My dealer has checked it, but found no faults - as it was working when they had the car. My only option will be to leave the car overnight with them, so they can see the fault when it's first started.

Anyone else had this issue?

Great car though!

Andy.

Not had the same but had something broadly similar where if I'd not driven the car for a week or so (in winter I use my old 4x4 when the roads are filthy) the air con and blower wouldn't work for about 15 mins. There's a circuit that monitors the battery and kicks into eco mode to make sure there's enough charge to start the car (it's a bit over protective imho but that's a different matter lol).

I didn't know about that circuit when I took mine in for what I thought was dead air con but the dealer still reckoned that it shouldn't kill the air con after just a week of standing. So while they had it they diagnosed a faulty battery not holding its charge and replaced it, no probs since.

So I wonder if your problem is similar and your cars firmware is shutting down various systems to preserve the battery but the underlying fault is the battery itself. Dealer may not detect that if they've only plugged it into a diagnostic machine but not checked the battery condition itself.

As mentioned above, the eco mode kicks in. I had it few times when the car was parked the stereo turned on and played music till the eco mode killed it.
Each time that happened there was a message on the display saying "eco mode activated" (or similar) when I started the car the day after.

But I never had a black out for like 15 minutes. All was working properly right from the engine's start

Thanks for the above.

I also had the eco mode on the 200 Sport's stereo, which shut it off after just a couple of minutes after the engine had been turned off.

since my original post on the issue, the system has booted up as soon as the car has been started after a significant period of rest, so maybe the dealer reset something? Time will tell!

Thanks for your replies :)

Andy.
