R222 vs Souveran

Hi,
Thought I would do a test between Pinnacle Souveran and R222. The RCZ has already been waxed with R222 so rather than completely stripping and starting again I have cleaned it / gloved it and reapplied R222. On the 308 I have cleaned/ gloved and polished it then it has had 2 coats of Souveran both cars had the final coat today so the plan is to see which lasts longer.

RCZ with R222 Wax, goes on easy comes off easy so no complaints with regard to application does not smell as nice a Souveran.

308 with Souveran, goes on easy comes off easy could not really say that there is a difference with the R222 in that respect. However it smells wonderful not sure if that is a major plus or not.

In terms of finish both buffed up really easily and with next to no effort. It is hard to see in the photo's and the colour is slightly different between the two cars but I think the Souveran had the edge over R222 for depth once buffed out.

As luck would have it  we had a storm after finishing the buffing so I had a chance to assess the beading of the wax's.

RCZ - R222

308 - Souveran

I think the water stands up slightly more on the Souveran than on the R222 but it is a close thing, the plan is to snow foam / wash the cars weekly and assess the beading on the wax's to see which one stands up better over time I will post subsequent updates to this thread.

Cheers

I've got a pot of R222 that I've had over a year that I've not used yet.

These are more show/Concours waxes so not renowned for their durability but interested to see how the test goes.

Well two weeks and two washes later they are both still beading but the R222 is starting to look slightly less waxed, not enough to be an issue but it does look like the souveran will be harder wearing although it probably will not be that long lasting either as RCZ1 points out the are both concourse waxes so not renowned for longevity.

The weird thing with the souveran is that the actual finish on the car improved over 24 hours it was good when I put it on but the depth of the finish appears to deepen over the 24 hours after application so not sure if some kind of curing or settling down of the finish is occurring.

Some waxes do do that Nexus- improve the looks 24 hours later. It is all part of the curing process.

I have now tried my pot of R222. I'm testing 4 waxes on the car at the moment, on 4 different panels. R222 / Definitive Wax Beadology / Waxaddict Edition 21 / Swissvax Best of Show..

Can't comment on how they are doing at the moment as I haven't washed the car since (waxes applied 2 weeks ago) and strangely haven't experienced any beading yet.

RCZ1 it will be interesting to see what your test turns out like, at the moment I am starting to like the look of the souveran alot it is difficult to describe but there is definitely a difference in the appearance of the finish of the car over the R222 they are both glossy but there is almost more depth or something with the souveran.

5 - 6 weeks in the R222 has given up so had to use a detail spray as an interim to give it back some protection, the Souveran still appears to be going strong so will see how long it lasts. the R222 would probably have survived longer if it had a dose of quick detail spray each time I washed it but I am trying to access the wax longevity on its own without any top ups.
