Peugeot Ruined my RCZ

So my boot latch came loose... 40+ degrees C in the sun was just too much for the glue holding the latch to the bumper. So I took it in last week monday and Peugeot attempted the fix as per an apparent bulletin. Morning after the repair, phone rings, wife tells me the latch is loose again. Very miff at Peugeot I arranged again for the car to go in an made sure I had a courtesy vehicle available.

Wife picked up the car at 15h00 and this is the mess they gave back:

The F****** drilled holes in the bumper and pop-riveted the latch to the bumper. Not only that, they didnt even bother to reconnect the left rear indicator, they scratched the bumper in 3 places and managed to scratch one of the silver arches. Oh, and they didnt even bother to look at the squeaky clutch as their old fart hears cant hear it... i mean really...

So I hopped in the RCZ drove it down to the dealer, told them to fix everything on the list and fit a new bumper, hopped back into the loan car and off I went (That was the PG10 version of what went down...). Dealer principal wants to see everyone on their side that touched the car first thing in the morning and I hope some heads roll. I've calmed down a bit now and will probably go fetch the Z tomorrow so that she can sleep at home until they have my new bumper.

Change of management and a whole bunch of people resigned from the dealership. I think they are trying to get their shit together but they are failing. I will speak to the DP tomorrow to hear what is going on but will not accept a scratched bumper with holes drilled into it.

Peugeot must keep it up, as much as I love my RCZ, I will sell the car (by sell the car I mean get rid of having to deal with incompetence). I will not tolerate rubbish service and poor workmanship. Once the car is fixed, they will NEVER see the old lady again.

That's a bit harsh Max.. I'm a great believer in that you judge a company on how well they deal with a complaint. So if they rectify their shoddy workmanship, I believe that they have earned your repeat business. If however they try to fob you off, then fair enough, vote with your feet, but give them credit if they step up to the mark, accept that things were not done to their standard and put it right.

Don't tell us Ron that you wouldn't be ragin' if you found your RCZ being held together by pop rivots??! I certainly would be! They shouldn't have to deal with/rectify complaints if they did the job properly in the first place. That fix just in't acceptable IMO.

The "fix" is reprehensible and totally unacceptable. However, as long as they put it right and recognise that it shouldn't have occurred in the first place, then I would be happy to return to them. If they on the other hand attempted to justify this ridiculous repair, then they wouldn't see me for dust and Peugeot UK would be informed.

I do agree with you Ron..... BUT ..... I fail to recognise this particular case as a "mistake" .... whoever carried out this repair/authorised it thought that shoddy pop rivits was A GOOD IDEA ..... no no no no........

I forgive mistakes but have to agree with Donna, this fix is poor workmanship and not a mistake. Will keep you guys posted on what happens.

So I havent had an RCZ parked in the garage for 3 weeks. After the first post, the car went back so that they can fix the damage. Their definition of fix was to drill out the pop rivets, drill 2 more holes and put in screws...

Cars been at the panel-beaters to have the holes closed and a scratch on the bumper (to deep to polish out) fixed. The Dealer Principal also said he will write a letter to state work done on the bumper for future sale and said if i wish to trade on another peugeot, he will gladly trade my car at full book due to the condition.

Should be getting the car back today. Mixed emotions really... Just looking forward to take the old lady for a drive.

I guess that with the extreme heat and your pet pride of lions, they did need to secure it with something better than adhesive. Does the screw fix solution look any tidier that the abomination of the pop rivets?

If they did the screw fix to start off with I would say yes. They slightly recede into the bumper and a bit of black touch-up paint would've obscured them completely.

Trust me though, if i get the car back today and there is anything protruding from the bumper, i might just feed someone to one of my lions. Probably to this one, he is the meany of the two:
