Hopefully getting a new RCZ R and have been offered paint protection at £199 (£100 off apparently), is it worth it?

All comments gratefully received.

Yes it is.I have all my cars coated from new, they keep their finish well.(There are some folk on here that would advise that you apply all sorts of magic potions yourself. If you are not an obsessive( and just enjoy driving) its all you need. The discount is a nonsense of course, £199 is average for most of them.

I went for the Diamond Bright. I paid £300 and yes, I was ripped off, but on the other hand, I am impressed with the finish :eusa-think:

Different dealers do different products.at end of day its the salesman who gets the commision, and can sometimes make more than the original sale of the car.Diamond brite until recently insisted on you using a top up thing and wouldnt cover the warranty unless it was done on a yearly basis i think.(now stopped)All insist that any panels are re-treated in case of accident. This will be covered by your insurance of course.Make sure you have docs to prove car has been treated.Usually you will recieve a maintenence kit with the car.I found ultra brite to be fine on an Alfa i bought, but as i say its much of a muchness.

It's not worth the money they charge. If you are going to apply a coating like this then the paint needs to be prepared properly for it to protect properly. The paint needs to be fully decontaminated and the paint polished to remove swirls, water spots etc. only then should the Paint Protection be applied. This takes hours to do properly. Time that dealers do not have because they are just interested in getting as many cars done as quickly as possible, not the quality. I would suggest that you pay your money to a professional Detailer who will take the necessary time to ensure that it IS done correctly and will last much longer than this will.

There's a thread on the audi forum where the dealership was audited and in the last 6 months they'd sold 55 autoglym life shine packages for customer cars. But the branch had only ordered 20 actual kits in the same time period of which 10 where still unopened. So 45 people had paid £399 for something that was never even applied be Carefull.

It's G-3 glasscoat that's on offer, some of the blurb:-

"As well as providing market leading protection for your paint, glass and allow wheels, the G-3 protection collection comes complete with world class stain proofing, to ensure your interior stays as good as new too"

I recently detailed a car for someone who had just picked up a 3 month old car. It had a sticker on the windscreen and an invoice in the paperwork they were given that stated that G3 Glasscoat had been applied to the car. They asked me to give it a once over. Upon snow foaming and washing it there was no sign of protection on the car. Water was just standing on the car not sheeting off as it should or beading. I rest my case. How was that supposed to last 5 years, as stated in the blurb!

I had mine done 6 months ago it was decontaminated first and then the glass coat was applied, it took them a hour and half to do.
£199 is a very good price for G3, my car still forms beading and then it runs off.
The car still looks brand new and no polishing for me

I had my RCZ professionally prepared by a detailer before collection. That alone, I feel, has improved the look of the car >3 years on. I was having the same guy come round to give it some love every 6 months, but he's no longer responding to my texts - maybe out of business?

Totally agree that dealerships dont have a clue on how thesw products really need to be applied, big waste of money when you could pay 300 to 400 quid to a detailer who will do the same job but how it should be applied.

Not worth the money! I paid it and it was not worth it. I invested the money in my own kit and followed RCZ1's guide :)

Would go with protection but get a pro detailer to machine polish it first and then protect. I had mine done by dealer as it was cheap and I didn't have time to take it up north to my trusted detailer... Coating is fine but swirly underneath... Am going to get it re-done by my chap up north how it should have been done in the first place. In summary, you may pay a bit more but you'll get a better job. I was quoted circa £550 which was for a full detail including paintwork correction plus 2yr G-techniq Exo 2 coating, it's a lot of £ but I know the result will be flawless, compared to the current swirly mess...
