Hi All,

Just a quick question.

I decided to change the oil myself after the last service and noticed thick sludge in engine. I purchased liqui moly engine flush plus but I'm worried if I add it then run engine for 15min and flush before putting new oil it might create huge problems and leaks. Can anyone help

Regards Rick

Looks very sludgy all right. Too long between oil changes. Run a engine clean through the engine and change oil and filter. I do an oil change every 3,000 miles and oil & filter every 6,000 miles.

And every 25,000 miles - one of these:

Peugeots fault this one. When I bought my first RCZ in 2011 the dealer made a big deal that service intervals were 2 years or 20000 miles.I guess they thought it would save me money.
I thought at the time it was too long and I reckon some of the issues people get with these cars are a result of this.

That does look bad ! Only thing is when you start using an engine flush it can quite easily block oil pick up strainer & starve engine of oil. I would have removed sump in 1st instance & cleaned that out before I tried anything else.
Hope you got on ok with sorting your engine out ? My car has done 62,000 miles & still looks brand new inside engine. That’s with oil changes every year & only what Peugeot use.

Saw this at my local mechanic on a BMW which had not had an oil change for about 20k; cannot be good for the engine. Would not be surprised some of these MD's are not changing the oil as requested/stated

Use an Engine flush then change oil & add a cheaper oil & filter run car for say 100/150 klm then change oil & filter you may need several goes at it to try & shift the crap the main reason you get that situation is no service schedule adhered to but more importantly the Wrong oil has repeated been used if they had used the correct oil the "detergent compounds" in the oil would stop the residues building up & the Low saps code 3 eliminates the sludge build up inside the Engine plus running the car for short trips over a prolonged period with the Engine temp too low even though its showing normal
