So I noticed some oil spots on the drive from my baby  A trusted mechanic friend kindly gave the car a good check over and at my request changed the camshaft cover gasket for me as there was the usual slight leak there, but the problem is apparently the bit where the engine joins the gearbox (I am a layman !!). This requires removal of the clutch and various gubbins (I did say I was not mechanical!!) and so while the seal itself is probably not that expensive, it will be the labour. I'm also advised that on a 104k mileage car it would be silly not to replace the clutch while its out, which seems to make sense.

He also advises that there is a bit of a danger that having got the said join oil tight, you can get what's called "chasing the leak" where the car finds the next weakest point - I can only hope that doesn't happen here. Other than this, he thinks my cars fab (y)(y)

Anyway - Question - have any of you on here had said oil leak, and had it fixed and clutch changed?

Thanks in advance!

PS - I did get a 3 month warranty, but reckon the chances of a successful claim are zero as it will inevitably be "wear and tear" as nothing is actually broken !
