Hi all,

I had the below message pop up the RG6 screen other day, has any else had this message before? what does mean? and what triggers it?...

"volume reduced to control unit temperature"

Nothing to do with with the stereo, as the volume remained the same as did the temperature setting.

Thanks

Not really sure but it does sound like it’s the media system that is overheating which I’m sure has been mentioned recently in a post from tianorth who has modified the heating ducts to stop this happening.

Come to think of it... the CD player has been playing up a bit, and upon ejecting the CD, it was hot enough to fry an egg.

I think you may have found the issue then...

Sounds like your blanking plate or plates have come loose or off.
Putting the heat into the centre console, which then makes its way up (as heat rises) and overheats the media unit.
Check to see if the sides of the centre console are getting hot particularly the part adjacent to your leg/knee.

Thanks tianorth... I think you've hit the nail on the head  The area around the handbrake and the sides of centre console do get extremely hot.
I'll take a look if, and when my Z defrosts

I put the additional ducts on to heat the cabin quicker.
Might as well as put it to use.
