NO, PEUGEOT DO NOT WANT TO SELL YOU A RCZ.

It is amazing to consider the fact that we are in a recession and that Peugeot do not want to sell cars. A couple of months ago I called into *****Peugeot, looking to change my 3 year old 207 Sport. That’s where the love affair started, sitting in the showroom in all her splendour, a pearl white RCZ. I found a salesman and asked for a brochure to take home and study. A week later I phoned the garage to talk to a salesman and got through to the receptionist. They promised that a salesman would call back (No phone Call). A week later I was passing late on a Saturday night and noticed another RCZ in their sales compound. Sunday morning I was on the phone to the garage enquiring about the car. The salesman took my details and a description of my car requirements and promised to get back to me (No phone Call). A week later I contacted the garage again and advised that I had contacted them on two previous occasions and I was enquiring about the car that was in their sales area. I was informed that the car was sold, but if I left my details they would get back to me.

As I was working away from home, in September I contacted Peugeot, ***** and enquired about an RCZ that they had for sale; the salesman took my details and advised that they would get back to me. Apart from the 2 standard company e-mails (valued customer & are you still looking for a car crap) I am still waiting for a phone call.

As all things end up with men, cars were spoken about in the local pub one Friday night and I told my story to a couple of friends. One of my friends suggested that I contact Ron Jeffrey at ROBINS & DAY LTD – GATESHEAD. After speaking to Ron, a couple of days later I am the proud owner of a Pearl White RCZ.

Communication pertaining to the purchase has been excellent and I am currently waiting for my new private Registration to come from the DVLA and the fitting of a feline exhaust. Hopefully, I should be able to pick her up next Saturday.

You seem to be confusing the manufacturer and dealerships??

Peugeot would very much want you to buy an RCZ - you have had poor service from a dealership...they are an agent of the manufacturer...not the manufacturer.

You are right, the dealer is just the agent, I received a flyer from my local dealers advertising the feline pack, guess what, went to the dealers, no one could tell me anything about it. I am talking about a large dealers as well.

phone calls and emails really salesman mostly dont take them seiously in my experience :( they want you behind a desk quoting you figures i dont think carsales have been hit badly this year so they aint as hungry.i remember getting my honda a nov58 plate and around my area glasgow 58 plates were rare as no one was buying new cars then even 59 plates but in the last year new plates have become more abundant especially 11 and 61 plates.anyhow you got your car eventually and everything happens for a reason

Had the same issue with a Ford dealership, been buying cars from them for years (ford ticket) but in November last year I asked for a quote .. nada .. chased, yeah I'll get on that ... nada ... more calls finally got a quote, asked to make some changes can they requote .... er nope silence. I tried again march time, same thing. In the end got so fed up trying to chase the dealer that decided maybe its time to look around and then saw the RCZ........

It does amaze me, sometimes they're just not that keen. I wonder if they're pushing you into a new sales period.

Different experence with Perry's though, couldn't help enough so I guess it just to the odd person as said above. Funny though, I'd have thought they'd bite your arm off nowadays

I buy a new car every 3 1/2 years and all dealers I have dealt with "could do better"!
It's a fact the best ones are rare .

Is it the salesmans fault or the management teams fault ?. The salesman is the first point of contact when a customer decides to buy a new car. However, the management team should be monitoring the followup performed by the sales team to ensure maximum revinue for that organisation.

It might be that dealer principles are in short supply. As the old saying goes, a ship without a rudder only goes round in circles

Yes good lad is Ron at Robins and Day Gateshead. True motor trade man.

No follow up by sales executives is their responsibility, however if you were logged as an enquiry by the salesman, the management should asking the salesman why you havent been followed up. Wouldnt happen at Gateshead this as Ron is the department manager. I've personally witnessed his demolition of a sales exec for this.

I would suggest that was very unprofessional :!:

I have little time for the vast majority of main dealers, as like many others have been on the end of incredibly poor sales executives as they call themselves. It does make me wonder who trained them. When I was learning the craft of sales I had a task master as a tutor, but by heck did it stand me in good steed. However it does mean that I am so much more acutely aware of the dire standard of the average car salesman (as I tend to call them)

This wasn't meant to sound aggressive or unprofessional in any way. But a manager has to deal with his sales people if they do not tow the company line and approach then they are dealt with.

Agreed, but in private not in public

OO58RON is right, very unprofessional to do that in front of a customer.

That is an extract from what cortinacat posted. Seems fairly clear to me that he was present whilst this Ron gave the sales exec a right royal dressing down. Which in my view is unprofessional

It was in private in an office. I'm the Financial Controller for Robins and Day Gateshead and a senior manager. There was nothing unprofessional in either the delivery or the outcome of rons meeting.

That declaration does throw a whole new light on the story. Clearly you was not an ordinary punter witnessing the event, as was my assumption. We all Know only too well that assumptions make an ass of u & me. However I fell into your trap

No trap set Ron. it was my fault for not explaining myself properly. Hope your RCZ gives you years of motoring pleasure

When I made my last post, my assumption was that CortinaCat was a salesman that witnessed ("I've personally witnessed his demolition of a sales exec") this in a closed room sales review session and not in the public area. It looks to me that this Ron is a man that pasionately believes in customer care. From some of the other comments on here, its a pity we did not have a few more RON'S in this industry.
