Hello all

As I am about to ask your opinion, it is only fair I introduce myself.

Newbie is what I am, but not what I feel, being now in my seventies, so more of an Old-bie.
But RCZ land is new to me, so I have lurked and read a bit here for a little while; most enjoyable and you are a bunch of very knowledgeable and enthusiastic owners.
My reason for joining is to buy an RCZ ASAP, and be one of you.

Our fleet is, and has been since living here, maintained by a local Pug workshop and dealer, hence we have had an assortment of Peugeots, the present mix being a 5008 seven seat cruiser and a top spec 108 convertible runabout.
A couple of other motors complete the gang.
So what better to compliment them than an RCZ coupe?

I am in wild West Spain, further from a coast than anywhere else in the Iberian peninsula, with stunning countryside and mountains, and roads mostly empty.
My journeys, apart from local pottering are 250K each way trips to Madrid or 500k each way to our holiday home in the South West, all mainly on cruise control on Autovia (Motorway).
I expect the RCZ will sometimes be used for those runs, and for a bit of local fun outings.

The link below is to a currently available RCZ 156 auto at a dealer from which our local chap sourced both our 5008 and 108. [translation using Google, below]

Please give me the benefit of your experience/advice to guide me toward a model you think suitable, or away from one to be avoided; loose budget of about 15K Euros.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Regards
Stewart

Hello

For the last few months i have been looking for RCZs (bought one today, but will get it in few weeks  ) so this one seems a bit pricey. This RCZ does not include JBL, leather seats, SAT NAV (but maybe you don't need any of those?) and also mileage is higher then average. Most of RCZs i have seen had mileage around 50000-80000 km so above 100000 km seems a lot. I wouldn't pay more than 12000 eur for this specific RCZ.

For 15000 eur you can get facelift model (starting from 2013 year) unless you prefer MK1 design. I bought MK2 RCZ 200 (more powerful engine) with 60000 km mileage for 16500 eur so pretty nice deal.

Hi, welcome, sort of, the car you are looking at does seem to be overpriced, and the mileage is definitely high. Unless you specifically need an automatic, the manual transmission would be the better option.
As you have been browsing the site, you are probably already aware of most things to look out for.

In terms of power, the 156 is the least powerful model, but having driven one, it is certainly not a slow car.
The 200 was the fastest car Peugeot had ever made until the R came out. And will certainly be powerful enough for most people.

The GT model is the better spec over the Sport, but both versions have plenty of options that could be chosen from new.
Xenon lighting and Sat Nav are both worthy of consideration.

Having said all that, It’s probably better to go for condition & mileage over spec.

I’m not sure about the availability in Spain, but there are certainly plenty of RCZ’s for sale, so I would be quite picky when choosing a Z

Hi and welcome, I dont know how common the RCZ is in Spain but compared to the UK your potential car sounds well over priced especially with that kind of mileage. Noticed the car does have the vision pack (zenon lights) although no leather interior in your climate maybe the cloth seats are better. If there are more Zs available locally I would personally pass on this one.
Good luck whichever Z you buy you won't be disappointed.

I have noticed that in UK RCZs are cheaper :eusa-think: In Germany, France and around, RCZs cost more. Decent MK1 costs around 13-17k EUR. MK2 goes somewhere from 16k to 22k EUR. RCZ R is around 25k EUR

Thank you all for the helpful replies.
I did think, myself, that the advertised price was way too high for year and kilometres, but wondered if there was a premium to be paid for auto; there do not seem to be many about.
My attention was drawn to this sale purely because the seller is known to me and not far away.
I have no preference for auto so unlikely to go for this one, again on price; the later facelift model can be had for my target around 15K euros.

Second hand prices and the concept of "an old car" are a bit strange here in Spain, certainly in Extremadura; I have often had friends neighbours and car workshop frowning when I refer to our 2001 Mondeo Estate as "viejo" (old) and they say it's not, but then there are some bangers running around from the sixties! Newish (up to about ten years old) hold their price remarkably, and low kilometre cars seem to ignore age when prices discussed. Buying and selling has also been a new and strange experience - examples: first Pug, a demo 207 sport was a couple of grand off new price and because they knew us and where we lived, they did not expect immediate payment; when you can was their attitude, and no deposit. Sold a four year old soft top FIAT 500C to a bar owner who we did not know and he not us. Turned up with a wad of notes and paid almost what we paid new with our discount. A couple of local farmers fought over a high spec 407 that had to go when I bought the 5008, so I stepped back and took the dosh from the winner. The 5008 was ex Peugeot Lease and under a year old, so through Peugeot I got a full warranty and a couple of grand off.

I shall try to take my time, having other motors to use, but old age has this odd effect (on me anyway) that says don't hang about as time is running out.

Cheers
Stewart
