Newbie... need some advice

Hello guys,

My name is Loic, I am new on this forum :)
To introduce myself quickly, I am french, living near London, and I grew up near Sochaux, well-known as Peugeot's town.
I want to get a car, and of course, I want a Peugeot, especially this great looking RCZ :) After reading a lot of things on the internet, I have a few questions about it.

Some people are complaining about the driving position, is it that tricky? I will try it in a Peugeot branch, but still I would like your advice.
Then, I heard the sat nav is not great and accepts only 5 digits postcodes, is that true?

Finally, has anyone tried the automatic gearbox and what do you think about it?

Cheers
Loic

Some owners have found it took them a while to find a driving position that suited them. I have not had any such problems and neither do I believe have many of our members have. The postcode thing is an issue to be fair. If you are looking for a pre facelift, so an NG4 it has so many other benefits that outweigh this issue. The facelifted version has the RT6 of which I have no experience, nor have I driven the automatic, but comments from owners of automatics is that it is good. The wait for a new automatic car is lengthy though, probably due to the low demand.

Thank you :)

So, is this issue related only to the NG4 sat nav?
I am looking for a new one, I prefer the facelifted version and I want to pick up the options I like.
When you say lengthy, do you have a rough idea of how much?

Cheers

hi there for a factory ordered Rcz its a 3 months wait,ex demos can be picked up and are usually loaded with optional extras and are obviously cheaper,my advice is shop about on the internet your sure to find a suitable specced rcz of your choice without going down the factory ordered route

Well, the problem is that there is just a few automatic ones on the internet, especially for the facelifted version and in the colour I want (white). I am not really concerned about the waiting actually, a little by the price of course, but I guess it is not the first criteria for any RCZ buyer...
3 months is alright for me. By the way, is it always that long for any Peugeot car here?

ok thank you for your answers ;-)

Actually for new models in France it is pretty much the same, despite it is sometimes made just a few miles from people's home.
The new 308 that will be out in a few months in uk, and has been out in France since september, it takes 3 months as well, and about 2 months for a 2008. Though, those cars look good. (ok I am a fan of Peugeot, so not really objective :) )

The RT6, I think, still has 5 digit postcode. I say think because it's a while since I've tried to find a new location and input it. There are lots of other ways to select a location to, I will try the postcode thing tomorrow and let you know.

MBJ ordered an Automatic and almost died of anxiety awaiting it's arrival. I believe that it took near on four months. We all decided that it was due to being an Auto

alright, thank you for your answers.
By the way, RCZ1 (and maybe OO58RON), I see you have a pearlescent white rcz, is this colour more fragile compared to the opal white? I would like your thoughts about this paint.

Hi Loic

I don't have a pearl white anymore (now Moroccan red). I'm not sure what you mean by the pearl being fragile? It's a three stage paint as opposed to the solid opal white. With any metallic /pearl paint it can be difficult to match colour should you ever need to have a panel resprayed etc but hopefully that would never happen. I really liked the pearl white as its a bit different to most of the solid whites that are on the road these days. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the same colour again. I hope that puts your mind at ease.

Yes I am a little afraid in case of repairing the pearl white paint.
The opal white is not as nice as the bianca white that exists on 2008 or 208, so I think I will go for the pearl white.
Some people complained about the pearl white turning to a white-yellowish colour on plastic parts, and so not staying as white as the metallic part.
I worked in the Sochaux factory for a few months, and it was the beginning of the pearl white paint, and it was a real issue there, but I guess it is the same for any new special paint.

The SatNav is a bit of a pain as I drive around London a lot. Once you get used to it it's ok but the postcode input is hit and miss. It's taken me the wrong way a few times although other sat navs have done the same! I had no problems driving it accross Europe funnily enough

Ok... that's the kind of details I hate sometimes in Peugeot...

I have a question that may sound quite silly for you guys
For manual gearbox cars (not only Peugeot), do you never have the kind of pedal to rest your left foot as on left-handed cars? Like on the third picture on this page.... http://bloodsweatandfashion.com/peugeot-rcz/

I just wonder if it is on any car in uk...

Thank you :)

The foot rest pedal is not standard in UK but I bought one and fitted it. I don't know why we don't get them over here.

Well, I guess it is easier for the left-handed cars as it can be fitted on the wheel arch. But if you fitted it on yours, I don't know why the manufacturers can't do it.
Maybe brands just don't want to deal with it on european cars as it is the only country in Europe with right-handed cars (with Cyprus). Don't know if they adapt better than here for markets like Australia or Japan.

My Pearl White was resprayed by Peugeot Dealership following a jacking the car up incident. I can't tell any difference at all. They matched the paint so well so well, so no need for worries on that score.

There is a curve on the right hand drive car, where the foot rest plate sits perfectly. So there is a place for it but choose not to fit it.
