New RCZ - slow drive first 1,000km

Hello,

I picked up my new RCZ 1.6 200HP, dolphin blue, couple of days ago. I was wondering if I need to drive it slower for the first 1000km, something like low revs, for the engine to gradually pick up full performance. My dealer suggested for first 1000km to drive it below 3000rpm, the other one said it should be driven like that for 5000km, the third one said that I could drive it immediately with full power, so I don't know which one to follow. So far I did follow the advice not to go above 3000rpm, but it's sooooo frustrating :? I would have preferred for the third guy to be right :)
Do you guys have any advice on this?

Thanks.

Hello predrag and welcome to the forum. There have been a number of previous threads on this topic, so I suggest you do a search for them first to view the opinions of others.

However, I don't recall any specific info. in the handbook. If there were any specific advice, I'd expect it to be in there but do check again for yourself, just to be sure.

On the basis you've received 3 different sets of advice you could always contact Peugot Assistance.

From my own experiences, on my gt 200, the only time I' e been carefully about the revs is before the engine has warmed up. I try to keep below 3000 rpm until the temperature gauge has reached normal. After that, i don't worry too much. However, I'm not a constant red line merchant either.

I've done 7500 miles so far without problems and my mpg is slowly improving.

Took delivery of the car, redlined it 30 minutes later.

First 1000km, new tyres need to be scrubbed in for optimal grip - so no hard cornering or wet antics, you'll likely find yourself in the divider ...

I just passed 4000km today, first time I took it above 200km/h.

Welcome to the forum :greetings-wavingblue:

I'm led to believe that modern engines do not have to be run in these days but I like to take it steady for the first 1000 miles. This means gentle acceleration, not too many high revs. Never done any of my engines any harm

Enjoy your RCZ. :D

Thanks Pete. I've tried to search the forum, but all my search phrases didn't bring anything useful. It looks like there is no "correct" answer to this, since different people have different opinion about it. Probably I will take the safer (and more frustrating) side.

Regards.

Thanks everyone for their answers.
I called Peugeot assistance, but they said they handle only breakdowns.
I submitted online form (from Peugeot web site) twice in last three days, but haven't got any answers from them yet.

Cheers.
