New RCZ R, echo carkit

Hi Guys,

Picked up my RCZ R today :) :) Little annoying thing: the carkit produces an echo. It's not bothering me, but the person calling me hears himself with a small delay. Almost impossible to have a decent conversation. Anyone experienced the same problem and knows a fix?

Thanks!

no echo on mine. the car kit in the rcz is the best one i have used yet!
make sure the volume is not too high otherwise the person you are calling will hear themselves on your microphone. in my experience if the volume is set reasonably low then there is no problem. use the volume know on stereo to reduce volume.

Thanks for your input renegade! For them not to hear themselves, I have to turn it down so low that I can't hear them, so not really the solution for me  (not that I'm deaf, but I seriously have to set the volume to 3). I do see that I have software version 2.75, I learned that there's a newer software version, maybe that'll solve the issue.

Had to drive home with terrible weather, will make some pictures ASAP after cleaing it. She's white, she's gorgeous :)

It's unusual. Not had that problem on any of my 3 RCZs including my R. I'm not sure the software upgrade will solve your issue. Have you tried speaking to anyone else - was that the same ?

I've tried talking to the same person with her using two differnt phones. Same problem. She hears the audio inside my car, which is the moment I believe the microphone of the car should be muted. But it doesn't seem to do that. My previous RCZ didn't have the problem either (NG4 system though..). I'll keep you posted.

Something definitely not right there then. I know it might sound daft but your Bluetooth was activated wasn't it ?

the volume shouldnt need to be that low. i meant not having it excessively loud. i'm not sure a software upgrade will fix it, sounds more like a hardware problem. perhaps the mic is faulty.

Thanks for the input guys, just installed 2.85, but it doesn't seem to be a software problem.
@RCZ1, haha, you never know, but yes, the bluetooth was connected and I hear the other person over the speakers :D
@Renegade, perhaps it is, will be sure the ask the dealer about it :eusa-think:
@tianorth, thanks but I'm afraid it isn't a software problem. I'll go and see me dealer, maybe they have the solution.

Will keep you updated!

When you connect your phone are you just selecting "hands free", or are you using the full media setting?

Hi Tianorth,

It automatically selected both the handsfree option as the media option. So I can both stream music as call handsfree. Do you think it would make a difference?

I have heard of this problem elsewhere (Gps underground website) and I seem to remember advice being given that a "calibration" might be required. Apparently this can be done by the dealer. I have absolutely no idea what this calibration involves, or how or why it might help, but I think I remember reading that it sorted out some peoples problems of this nature.
It may be that someone has updated the software previously, and this has caused the problem.

I think it's definitely worth a trip back, especially seeing as you've only just got the car.

Small update guys: brought it to the dealer. He had not heard of the problem, but he would be a appointment with tech support. I can bring in my car begin september and they will sort it out. Dealer said: worst case you get an entirely new unit :wtf:
