More clutch problems?

Picked my car up at 9am this morning - 5 hours later it's back in the garage. :(

A grinding noise on depressing the clutch when in gear (at around 2500-3000 rpm) - will keep you posted when I know more.

Obviously disappointed, but the dealer's been pretty good - they took it in straight away and are looking at it now, and the salesman gave me their demo RCZ to use in the meantime. Happy to mention the dealer if this falls under "naming and praising" rather than "naming and shaming" but will let the siteadmins take a view on this first.

Which engine have you got??

Just checked - it's a diesel - seems to be a trend forming here - not good.

Good luck I hope you get it sorted.

Hope it gets sorted quickly for you Maf. We took the dealers demonstrator out today to make sure we can get it up a drive where my wife works. The car is a diesel and I noticed a strange sensation when pressing/depressing the clutch at low speeds. It felt a little like clutch judder. I mentioned it to the dealer when I returned the car and he said that he hadn't noticed. I wasn't convinced by his reply.

Thanks for the responses (and wishes of luck).

Went back into the dealer this morning for an update. The service manager doesn't yet know exactly what's causing the noise/vibration. However, they did say that they'd borrowed two other HDI 163's from a nearby dealer and both of these had the same symptom.

They''ve also managed to recreate the symptom reliably whilst stationary:
- pop into neutral
- rev to about 2000 rpm
- depress clutch

Be interested to hear if anyone else with diesels (or indeed petrols for that matter) has similar symptoms (and also what mileage their car is at).

No problems per se, but perhaps a piece of advice... for about a week I thought there was a very tangible squeaking & vibration through the clutch pedal. Turned out it was just the way the rubber studs on the pedal were rubbing against the sole of my shoe when I depressed the clutch. Glad I figured out what it was before deciding to take the car back!

That aside, I hope they get the car sorted asap for you mate - good sign that they let you have their demo though!

Dealer has now spoken to Peugeot UK and they're investigating. I now have to decide whether to:

1. Hold onto my car whilst this gets sorted :eusa-think:
2. Swap for a GT200 (dealer has one in stock in silver, unregistered which I drove this morning)
3. Get my money back :(

Very keen to stay in an RCZ (despite everything, driving one for the last week has convinced me that it's a great car), so some soul searching to do over the next few days.

Dealer is being pretty good, and I'm still in their demo GT HDI.

If I were you I would swap for the GT200 especially if, as you say, you want to stay with a RCZ.
Hope you get it sorted very soon.

Thanks for the suggestions all.

Decided to go for my car in the end and await a fix. Dealer is keen to look after me if it doesn't get sorted, and I've been convinced by his written reassurances.

The 200 was nice, but for mid range flexibility I thought the HDI was better (plus there was the running costs to take into account - for example, I have a 360 mile round trip to do for work tomorrow!)

Keep you posted when I hear from Peugeot UK. It feels like some kind of vibration that isn't being isolated and is feeding back through the clutch hydraulics into the pedal assembly (may be something else altogether of course).

You've made the right (and only) choice and stuck with the best Model.

Sorry to hear your having problems Maf, hope you get it sorted soon. I have a diesel too but so far no problems - only noticed a judder and potential stall while setting off in 1st but I'm putting this down to human error (ME! I cant drive properly!) Will keep an eye on the potential problems if they arrise.

Hi goldbadger, I too have a diesel, less than 2 weeks old, 500miles on clock. Noticed clutch Judder at the biting point the moment I drove out of showroom. No problem in moving off or changing up and down the gears, but only when creeping in traffic. I try not to get in traffic as I prefer to be moving but if I was in it, the clutch thing would really do my head in. At one point the car was shaking on the biting point. Took car back to dealer as a matter of course and they noted it down and asked me to drive through the problem to see if things improve. This will be re-asessed when the car goes back to dealer on the 25th Oct. The RCZ is so smooth and easy to drive that I do not think it is your driving that is at fault. I was a driving instructor for 15yrs and used to live on my clutch all day and have never had a clutch which responds in the same way as my RCZ. That said I still love my car.
