Looking after the dash

I know this subject has probably been touched on, but i'm too lazy to search the threads
so any advice on cleaning and looking after the standard (not leather) would be appreciated.

I did buy some "leather cleaner/ protector" but it looks too creamy for my liking to put on the dash, it comes out of the can like soft butter !
Not sure what affect it will have as its not real leather ? :eusa-think:

I dont really want to change to appearance of the dash and i've seen some cleaners or protectors leaving a shiny finish. :(

Hi Jactac

I use a leather cleaner/ protector but its water based unlike yours. I've not had any issues with using it on the dash.
You get what you pay for with leather cleaners - more expensive ones are far better. The cheaper ones tend to make leather shiny, which is a bad thing, or you slide around in the seat

You may like to read this thread which may help.

Thanks RCZ1,
I think you are spot on with pay a bit more and get something better.

The product i bought, well my son actually went shopping for it, anyway it cost £7 and it honestly comes out the can like a creamy coloured soft butter, its a protector and cleaner all in one made by Carplan, I'm not convinced it will be anygood. Just by looking at it i can see its going stain the dash and make the seats shiny.

At this time all i want is a protector rather than a cleaner, so i may take a look at the ones you used, bit o0f a jump £7 to £25 but as you say you get what you pay for.

RCZ1,
do you use both those products on the dash or just the cleaner ?

Hi Jactac, I use both products on the dash. The cleaner I use every 2 weeks, the protector is used every 3 months.
The same on my husband's car as he has fake leather on his dash too.
