:helpme:

Just had to swerve to avoid an old dear who apparently can't see red cars with xenon headlights and DRL's coming towards them! :brickwall:

Only clipped the kerb (I thought) but on inspection, it's a bit of a mess.

I know the facing is "diamond cut" not just the standard alloy, and then the tyre-side of the rim is painted black. I know somewhere that refurbs standard alloys but I don't think they would be able to do anything with one of these?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this type of wheel refurbished? Has anyone had one done?

Any suggestions of repairers in the Yorkshire area?

Any help would be appreciated, I'm a bit gutted right now :helpme:

Don't panic captain Mannering.
Elite Wheels in Leeds can sort it out for you.
I haven't had any work done myself, but I have seen some results.

I k ow it's too late now, but when you get it sorted, fit some alloy gators. 110 quid fitted. We've had them on since the day we picked her up. My wife has merged everyone of them. 360 degrees on every wheel. When I come to sell. I just take them off. Wheels like new again.

Sounds like buying a new sofa and keeping an old blanket over it.

They can indeed be repaired but they will require being re-cut using a specialist lathe. This often requires the car to be off the road for anywhere between three and seven days. The other thing to be wary of is how accurately they can match the colours. It shouldn't be too difficult as the main body of the alloy is black.

Thanks Riz, I have found a wheel repair company that is quite close to where I live, based in Wakefield West Yorkshire. They have a very good reputation (found them via DubForce.net) they can be contacted on 01924 259932 and they can repair any wheel, including diamond cut such as Solstice. They quoted me just £60 per wheel, and they indeed re-lathe the wheel.
The only trouble is, they need the wheel for 3 days, and I of course, don't have a spare, so the Z will be beached for 3 days, once I have arranged transport to get the wheel to them. :(
They are very busy, so need some notice to book work in.
At the moment, I can't organise a 3 day car free period that coincides with when they can sort me out, so I look like waiting a while to get my wheel nice and happy again

Feeling a bit less grumpy now though :eusa-think:

Thanks for the helpful posts above

I've never seen those alloy gators before. Can you fit them yourself? Do they not come off if the wheel is kerbed?

The Alloy Gators or Nail Polish will do the trick if you do not want to have your car off-line for a while.

You could see if 4 people would be willing to lend you their spares then the car would not be off the road!

Think I will just wait until after Christmas, I will have more cash then, and more chance of having a few days together the Z could stay on the Jack :|

Not wishing to piddle on your chips mate, but after finding one of my jacking tabs had failed some time in the past, I'm not sure I'd want to leave my RCZ sitting on jacks for an extended period of time. Realize the damage is probably done at the point the car is raised, but personally I'd rather not risk it.

I'm with you on that one Stagger, when I had all my wheels off to seal the alloys, I bought a low profile trolley Jack, and lifted it using the suspension cross members.
I would still prefer not to leave it there for any length of time, so will probably get hold of some axle stands or similar. A few days on those should be ok.

Or I might just say sod it and go for the nail polish repair

DKZ. Interesting to see your post and picture of a kerbed wheel & I see the small length abrasion along

the rim edge. I also note that in Leeds it is possible to get such a repair (& machined) for around £60.

In my locality (Chepstow & indeed S.Wales / Hereford) the cost I have been quoted for 1 wheel refurb. is a

staggering £150.

Alas to resolve my similar dilemma I am also without a spare and now no second car to cover for the 4 day

repair absence. I do not have the lengthy abrasion but a solitary chunk of damage in the silvered machined

edging. Of course that would involve a 'weld' infill + machining to gain a repair. But the black coated inner

wheel surfacing is unimpaired. Are there any local to me thoughts on such a repair ?
