Judder Judder Judder *warning light* Judder Stall

Well it has been a while since I have posted on here lots of moving and have been enjoying putting the miles on the on boy

So any way here is what is happening and I was just looking for some advice before I get my car into the dealers

So for the last couple of weeks whenever I have started my car, and drove about 500yrds up the estate to some traffic lights there was a faint little judder from my car, nothing really major as the revs came back up and when the light was green I was able to drive away happy as larry but thinking to myself that this has to be mentioned at the end of Feb when I have my service.

So anyway this morning I was running through the same routine but this time ( I don’t know if it was because the car semi-frozen ) when I got to the lights my car started juddering quite badly and lights started flashing at me - the warning light and then the engine light on the dashboard! :(

So I was thinking has this happened to anyone else? Also if there is a fault with the engine what is covered under warranty? Obviously I am aware that wear and tear kind of things aren't but I am a little worried as when I put this in ( with a minor fault that the wing mirror will not turn down when reversing ) which I am going to sort out now is going to cost me a small fortune??!! :?

So any help with any of these points would be greatly appreciated

is it diesel? it could have frozen overnight - was -14 here? park it in the sun and see if it gets better?

the problems should be covered under warranty - they're hardly wear and tear

If the engine management light came on the fault should of logged in the computer, so the dealer should be able to trace it

Wonder if it's a misfire? Maybe a coil pack is faulty or got some frost in it. Could also be one of the engine sensors.

Did it re-start OK?
Does the problem go away when the engine's properly warm?

Sounds like the engine's starved of either air or fuel ??
Maybe a slight blockage somewhere.

Hope you get fully sorted tomorrow

You've moved the switch across to activate whichever wing mirror you wish to dip ??
May be worth moving the switch back and forth to see if this has any effect.
If not, as you say Dealer repair - under warranty.

I've been having a similar problem and after searching the forum I came across a few post about a defective temperature sensor in the engine. The next morning I started the car and the temperature reading went straight to 80 degrees, even though the car had been in outside all night at -10c. I've booked the car in at the dealers for thursday and hope they'll replace it. Unlike you I did not have a warning light, just low revs and occasional stalls. I've put it down to the automatic choke not kicking in.

I just had the same thing happen. Drove for 2 hours without a problem. Stopped and started again and splutter splutter. The car has been in the shop for 4 days. They finally told me today that the fuel pump has failed. I love my rcz, but am so disappointed with the time taken to fix. Now I have to wait another 3 days. :(

Anyone else had a similar issue?

Seem to be reading posts similar to this every week now :eusa-think:
Common to the 156.

Are owners driving them too hard maybe.

I finally got my car back this afternoon. It ended up being the fuel pump. A shame for only 6 mths old and 6000km. I must say I am glad it's on the road again! Mine is a 200. Hopefully others won't have this issue, because it will leave you stranded. I still love the pug!

well Howdy people its been a little while thought I would just give a little update on this ( I wanted to check when this first started happening and I remember posting on here)

So since April my car has been into the RUGBY servicing department at least 4/5 times for this engine fault, each time with me explaining exactly what was happening and so on and so forth, and them telling me that they can not find anything but as a precaution changed a few bits and bobs such as spark plugs etc etc

So last Friday after I finished work at 7am and wanting to get home before the snow was too bad to drive in, I was so close to home I could nearly feel the warmth of my bed as I got off the M1 at Junction 21.

Then at the lights I could *smell* a some sort of a burning smell which I put down to the car in front , but by the time I was halfway round the round about what I was smelling was definitely oil!!! and as I stopped at the lights at Fosse Park what can only be described as the lights of Blackpool flashing a big red STOP!! sign at me and that oil pressure was too low!

As luck would have it I had stopped 100yrds from the Peugeot Dealership in Leicester but as I got out of my car the noise that the engine made can be described as a tractor on a VERY bad Day!!!

So I turned off the engine and waited for the service department to open by this time i was slightly cold and very tired after my 12hr night shift.

I have to say the lady in the Service department was very nice and offered me tea to warm up and just to wait 5 minutes and she would sort out a car so I could get home to bed and they will phone me in the afternoon.

AND HERE IS THE GOOD PART!!!

I spoke to the dealership on Monday/Tuesday as I gave it a couple of days due to the snow and her first words to me were that the mechanics were to afraid to drive it the 10ft into the garage and that they had to push it in!BRILLIANT I THOUGHT

Here we go!

I was then advised that they had never seen anything in that bad of a condition ( which I questioned as I said I haven’t missed a service I have had it in the garage 4/5 times due to this engine fault and no one has ever said anything to me! I even tried to get it serviced when it didn’t actually need one!!) I was then told that they can not believe that something like this had been missed and I was lucky that parts of the engine were not blowing out of the bonnet!

I was told that this was due to the timing chain nearly snapping and what they have to do is rebuild it before they can diagnose the fault once built and engine running they can then search for a root cause to all of these issues!!

To say I am not amused is an understatement! and then to top things off I have the sales man phoning me nigh on each day to get me to exchange it for the newer model ( I think he wished that he hadn’t woke my up after a night shift the day I spoke to him!)

So that’s where I am right now, not happy driving around in a 1.2 208 which I am grateful to be getting around in but its not quite my RCZ is it!

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences in the past with servicing departments and shocking to hear your engine nearly exploded due to their lack of knowledge but on the upside you freakishly have managed to find a helpful dealership that will sort your beloved out once and for all  I know the 208 isn't quite up to par but at least you have some wheels that will tide you over until your love affair with your Z is reignited when she's all tip top and sparkling again

I'm sure the salesman knows to leave you be for now ;)

rchalmers83 So pleased to read that finally it would seem that resolution to your problems is at last in sight. Let us know the root cause once they have found it.

Sooooooooooo it goes on

I nipped into the dealers on the way to work this evening as I spoke to them yesterday and they said that the car will be ready once they had test drove it properly.

They have replaced the timing chain and the timing chain tensioner which was loose for some reason but while on the test drive this morning, ran fine up the motorway and on the way back to the dealer ship but when in idle at lights the same fault came back and the engine management light came on so they are going to have to keep the car longer now as they cant seem to find the issue!!! :helpme:

So still awaiting a resolution to this

But sort of pleased that this dealer wont just fob my off and give it me back saying its 'running'

Glad to hear that it is being resolved and that you have a good dealership looking after you.

Also Chuzz, I see that I'm not the only one using tapatalk 2 and finding it posts everything twice! It's rather annoying!
