Iphone 5:

(5 on left 4 on right)

So pretty similar then!? it would appear in my opinion that apple have changed the phone more as a fashion statement rather than a phone.
After all the ranting I'm pre-ordering mine on friday!

Cheers Dan

I agree not much change, not any most of us will notice anyway but I'll still be getting it, like I have every other one. The one thing that apple are good at, sales marketing ;)
iPhone 4s for sale here ;)

There were zero surprises here! I think it has actually had the opposite effect on me Starky. I have been loyal since the iphone 3gs but, after the 4 and 4S, I actually think I am not going to bother with this. In fact, it isn't even a market leader anymore. Yup, I will miss the iTunes and some of the apps but, for me, it's too safe. Very disappointed...but not surprised.

The different charger dock and the nano sim. What's that all about!!!
I've thought a few times about changing, there are better phones out there but I'm so apple branded, iPad, iPod, apple tv, docking stations, alarm clock, car chargers ect I have them all. Also visiting the golden state in April so going to be very very hard not to get one ;)

The more I look on it the more I want it!
I think they made the phone too good and can't improve on it without changing the shape! They took 3 times before the phone changed to the square shape!

Mac,
Common fault on the 4ss is the lock button not working, took mine into Apple shop last week they gave a new phone without any drama, in fact the guy there said its common and they are replacing the 4 ss with this fault without question and you keep same number, all done within an hour in the shop.
You have to go through Apple to get the phone changed and NOT your actual mobile company.

I think I heard somewhere that Apple signed a deal with TomTom to use their mapping service for satnav etc? I have held off for a year from getting the 4S but am tempted by the 5 now. Two years ago I got the iPad 1 and to be honest I couldn't justify getting the iPad and iPhone what with managing apps etc across both devices. However the advances with the iPhone's camera, my increased use of social media tools means that I am finally going to ditch the company BlackBerry. The company said that if we want an iPhone we have to purchase it but they would cover the data plan. Unfortunately we are with Vodafone so no 4G for me any time soon!

the sat nav system in the iphone update (also the iPhone 5) is useless it low in detail and does not know where most things are.

I would recommend either having Tom Tom app downloaded on to your iPhone or keep on using Google Maps on your iPhone (I have created a link on my homepage to google maps rather using there map system)

There has been confirmation from Apple that they are going to respond to all the mapping issues and complaints and will shortly be rolling out upgrades to this.

it will take them years to match Google's maps. (its maps are roughly a year old for where I am, I road near where I road does not exist and a road that is pedestrianised is considered a road on the system)

(I will stick with using Google Maps on my iPhone)

I like your style. I always sell my phones on fleabay when I receive an upgrade or whatever. My last phone, the iPhone 4 went for £278. The only downside is being taxed eBay fees and PayPal handling fees. I'd wait for a free insertion weekend to sell it if I was you.

Totally agree, I'm one of those that despise Apple! Far to gimmicky and just out to make as much cash as possible by churning out new products every 3 months (that's an Apple year btw). I myself rate the HTC group, on my second and currently using an HTC One X and its brill :-D

My next upgrade isn't due until around March. No doubt a 5S won't be long in coming but, despite being a big fan of some Apple products, the iPhone 5 hasn't really one me round. There's a complete lack of innovation and they really are, ever more, becoming style over substance.
