Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I thought id share.

Im really annoyed. I picked up my car yesterday. All good car is great :D But i was just sorting out all the forms and paperwork for transfering my private plate from my old car, to my RCZ. With my RCZ being registered in 2010, its due for an MOT this year. So I had a look when its due. 18th May!! I looked though my paperwork from the dealer, and no MOT certificate. I looked on the DVLA site to see if it was tested, but they had just forgotten to give me the certificate. Nope. No record of any tests. Grrrr, and I cant really go back and make them do it as i picked it up in Sheffield, and I live in Peterborough! So not only will I have to go to the DVLA, ill also have to see if I can get an MOT anywhere tomorrow first, just in case the DVLA say they cant do it as I dont have enough MOT on the car.

Oh drive without for a few days, works fine as long as you don't get caught :D I did that with my 406 for a month last summer when i thought the MOT time expired in July when it actually was in June :D

...or your involved in an accident!! Thankfully I don't think Abzynthe is planning on taking the chance.

That is annoying though. Did you not negotiate the MOT with the dealership?

Yeah im not going to risk not having one.
I did say to them when I put the deposit down would it have a 12 month MOT and they said yes.

Im going to ring them tomorrow and as I cant get it done there, see if they will compensate me for getting it done locally.

Well they have to really honour that and hopefully won't be difficult about having to take it all thay way back to them!! Keep us posted!

I doubt they will compensate you for your fuel/time. If that is going to cost you more than price of £40MOT, get it done locally, simples. You can rightfully claim that back from the dealership.

Tell them under the sales of goods act it should be fit for its intended purpose! Without an MOT it isn't and so they need to sort it or give you a full refund! That may get them moving!

Not the best course of action. A gentle reminder, that they had said it would have 12 months valid MOT should be the starting point.

Thanks agree with Ron. People are far likely to go further for you if you start off politely and suggest that this was merely an oversight and give them an opportunity to rectify it. If you start off by pushing the button and hitting def con 1 then you are left with nowhere to escalate things to should you need to.

Ive just called. I was polite as he has always been polite and helpful with me.
Hes going to call me back in half an hour to confirm an appointment at my nearest Robins & Day dealer (Which is in Leicester) for Saturday and they are going to arrange a courtesy car.

At least they are sorting it, but its still a bit of a hassle getting to Leicester, and I wanted to go to the DVLA to transfer my plate over. I can still do this, but ill have to go back to the DVLA to get the MOT certificate changed.

That's a bit of a trek for you. Would you not be better to get the MOT carried out locally as the price of an MOT will be little more than the cost of your fuel to Leicester and back.

Both Sheffield and Leicester Peugeot dealerships are Robins & Day so it's still an 'in-house' job which is why they've chosen that route even though it's inconvenient for Abzynthe. As it was their mistake I'd be trying to get them to agree to the local dealer (Marshalls) doing it and agreeing any costs with Robins & Day Sheffield.

That route should not be too difficult for them to arrange as Robbins & Day are owned by Peugeot UK. Lets face it Boongate is a lot closer than Abbey Lane Leicester

Tbh, Id prefer to get it done privately that go to Marshalls, I bought my OH's 308cc from them and they arent very good.
We referred a friend to them, and they didnt give us the £50 until we complained because it was a different salesman that sold the car to my friend, they also wanted £370 for her first service, but our next nearest Peugeot dealer only wanted £170 for exactly the same service.
They even tried to deliver her car with a dent in the bonnet (which wasnt there when we put the deposit down).
