Hello my name is Jonathan and I live in Swansea,South Wales,UK.
I have been following this forum for a while now and decided to take the plunge.
I am hopefully getting a new car in the next few months (waiting on a house sale lol) and had narrowed it down to 4 cars.
RCZ,CRZ,MX-5 and Scirocco. Was dead set on the CRZ because I loved the look and the gadgets, etc, loved the look of the RCZ too
but the ol' Peugeot stigma raised its head and having had a 106 yrs ago wife decided we werent having another one lol.
Went to see a CRZ up close and talk about world crashing around you, exceedingly disappointed with the build quality plus
Honda sales ppl just sat around on their arses while I looked it over, only coming to see me as I got in my car to leave...
Next to VW and informed of 6-8 month waiting list on Scirocco so another one crossed off.
Vroom to Mazda dealer and was impressed by MX-5 a lot leading to decision to get one.Fast forward to bad winter we had and
thoughts of rear wheel driving entered my head, read forums and suggestions like "put a bag of coal in the boot" didnt impress me tbh.
Also the fact that I wasnt 100% convinced on the MX-5 kept me coming back to the RCZ configurator on the website :)
Popped down to my local dealer to have a play and the ol' lightbulb came on above me.
10mins to convince wifey with the old "built same place as Aston Martin" (her all time fav cars) and now its just a matter of the house sale
holding me back and what config/colour to have.
Leaning towards Mercury Grey due to delay on white ones but wife saw a white one in the car wash today and is pretty much set on that colour.
Couple of questions before I bail ...1: How long is the delay for the white RCZ's? and 2: Much difference between the 2 white colours? very noticable or not?
Thanks for your times and apologies for the wall of text, tried to make paragraphs but doesnt appear to have worked :)
PS probbly gonna be the 156 GT spec with the shark teeth alloys n black mirrors

Hi
I think the delays only surround Pearl white cars not Opal and I think Opal looks stunning :!:
But then I am a little biased :D

And welcome to the forum :greetings-wavingblue:

Hi Jonathan and welcome to the forum (even tho' you've been lurking for a while) . Good choice on cars and I think most of us are happy with the build of the RCZ in spite of Peugeot's reputation in the past. No matter which colour/wheel specification you opt for the car is stunning. As you see I went for mercury with black alloys and am well pleased with Freddie. Good luck  :greetings-wavingblue:

Hi Jonathan

Welcome to the forum even though you have been lurking for a while :greetings-wavingblue:

You won't be disappointed with the RCZ. I owned a 206CC a year after they first came out and everyone said you'll have a problem with the roof not folding, electrics, etc, etc. Never had any problems with it and not had any problems with the RCZ (fingers crossed as I type this :D ).

I think both opal white and pearl white look great but I went for Pearl white, as I wanted to have a pearlescent/metallic flake to the paint, rather than it just being a solid colour and its also more reflective (my last car was a solid red, so the reason I wanted pearl really). I love my Pearl but any opal white owner will probably say the same about theirs too so its an individual choice.

Here's a couple of mine:

Hi Jonathan

Welcome to the forum! Good taste in cars - we have an RCZ and an MX-5. The MX-5 is a fab car but blooming useless on ice covered roads - it's very hairy (no pun intended re hairdressers car!). My poor hubby ends up driving his 85 year old mothers 1.1ltr lupo on icey days - def. not good for the street cred!!!!

However, in my opinion the RCZ is the best! :happy-wavemulticolor:

Cheers
Scarlet

Thanks for the warm welcome
Yes the CRZ looks space age but the door handles are tiny bits of plastic and you cant see out the back window OR over your shoulder lol.Their loss....
Not fussed on Scirocco interior tbh, wife has Beetle and she loves it to bits but I find interior really dated, clock looks like a 70's digital.
Indeed I had the "hairdryer image" in my head when I nearly plumped for the MX-5,lovely car but do we get the weather to justify a soft top lol.
I was really surprised at how few sporty cars there are at this sort of price point and how some car makers have zero sporty options.Toyota and Hyundai
are terrible and I've never been fussed on the Focus or Astra in all their versions.
Spoke to wife earlier and she is insisting on a white RCZ so looks like it going to be the opal white 156 GT with shark teeth wheels, black mirrors and the
sight pack thingy (tyre pressures, bendy headlights, etc).
Funny how she didnt want to know when I first mentioned an RCZ but now she has seen one close up she wont shut up about it lol.
Anyways off to bed now :( silly 5am starts, stay safe and will pop in tomorrow :)

I think it's only Pearl white with the delays (ordered mine 8th Nov and delivery is mid march ) . If you want Pearl white nows a good time to try and order as Ive been told February is the build month for this color.

In my opinion, the VW was a better handler but in every other respect the RCZ trumped it.

Solid whites are readily available being the base colour

Hello again
Just popped back to say I'm afraid I have gone to the dark side lol
The house has sold and 2 days before it did the solicitor informed me I didn't have to pay any capital gains tax, this meant a big chunk of extra cash and increased my range of cars.
Checked out Porsche Cayman,Jaguar XF,Nissan 370z and the TT.Broke down as follows....
Cayman = requires lottery win to have the extras lol
Jag XF = huge car and too big for me tbh
Nissan 370z = crappy interior and 20mpg
TT = love at first sight
Tbh I would never have thought of getting a TT because I never liked the mk1 shape but for some reason seeing the showroom mk2 TT in White just blew me away.Ordered one there and then and have been told today that 20th may is looking good ;)
Guess I am excited as all of you when you get a date :)
Anyways stay safe folks and I wish you all health and happiness
I will still wave to any RCZ's I see out n about lol.

Hi Pugsley

I actually prefer the Mk II TT to the Mk I. It's a much better shape I think. Nice to have a bit of an unexpected windfall so I hope you enjoy your new toy and it's in the lovely Ibis white too  You could always post some pics of her on here when you get it.

I like the Porsche Caymen too but I know what you mean about the extras. I think you have to take out a second mortgage when you buy one :D

Yes the mk1 looks like a squashed vw beetle to me kinda lol and the Cayman pack options are insane, suggest peeps go look for a laff :D
The mk2 TT looks like a proper coupe to me and is actually a lot bigger than u expect up close (well I was surprised lol).
I was told July delivery originally so I'm kinda still in shock over May lol sorting out insurance, etc now ;)
£450-£550 with me as named driver on wifey policy.
Will post a couple of pics when I get it so you will have something to throw darts at
