Hi I have a new to me 156 manual RHD , expecting a bit of a project, and loads of smiles....Living up to the project bit at the moment eems to have a few issues and everything I've been told is reliability isnt the best. so a purchase maybe more heart than head. I've had a lot of cars , I like something a little different .... and ever since seeing the RCZ at launch and not being able to afford as a second car or justify 2+2 with family... I wanted one... . Love the looks and pleased its ULEZ, .... Hope I can sort it and enjoy using it ,,,,

Enjoy your new car, they certainly are a looker, I still keep looking over my shoulder as I walk away in a car park.
As for reliability, well maintained they are spot on and just like any other car, neglected they bring out the red mist In you.
Just one suggestion to keep it healthy, ignore the factory service intervals and change the oil every 6-8k, the 18 or 20k or whatever it is in the book is way too long.

Thanks ... Yes , even parked up , looks amazing... Just worried I have bought a HG failure ... not sure this is result of neglect as service history, bills and receipts galore... Hoping its something simple but all I can see is the expansion tank empties, no heat inside car, cant see any obvious leaks in footwell or underneath. Only noticed this yesterday , so need to spend sometime investigating ...

You can get a head gasket leak tester, coloured fluid put into a wee S shaped vial thing that plugs into the expansion bottle that will analyse the gases in the bottle and give you a good indication If the head gasket is letting by. With a bit of luck this is not your problem. There are a few know leak areas that occur with age, hope you find one that is a simple one, few for direction are bottle cap, hose that heads down and is affixed to the side of the engine at the crank damper pulley after timing t change it can sometimes be left such that it rub on the drive shaft, thermostat housing pipe, water pump, water pump seal. I’d spend a good bit of time crawling over it to see if it’s ones of these initially.
Good luck.
