As winter has just started (Australia) tried starting the heater, even on high there is no warm air. Had the thermostat done last year and it took about 2 weeks to get a faint warm air flow, but now absolutely nothing. Air conditioning on cold works fine. Any ideas.

A very thorough rad flush sounds to be required.
Flush the heater matrix as a direct individual item, the shape it sits in and the way it’s plumbed allows for it to silt up. Two hoses heading into the bulk head (air intake pipes removed remove both and add a decent rad flush directly into the matrix, let it sit and then blow out with garden hose, repeat a few times and monitor the stuff coming out. Mine was near blocked and did clear after a few direct flushes. Or you can change the matrix, behind the blower fan.
Tip: get two bits of garden hose one to put a raised funnel on for the flush going in, the other to collect the flushed stuff out of the engine bay. You’d be surprised what comes out even if the coolant looks good. Make sure and refill with correct coolant type, I think it’s G3 but just check first.
ps I could cook on mine afterwards.
