Hi, I'm taking my car in to have all four alloys refurbished. The guy said the tyre valves are all rubber which indicates the sensors are probably the sort that are attached elsewhere in the rim. Is this correct, or are they actually attached to the valves?
Related question, where are the units that read the valve sensor signals?....ie, is it safe to wash the wheel arches with a sponge to remove dirt?

Thanks,
Kevin

They are fitted to the valves inside the rim and are screwed in with a small screw and are rubber stems. So don't let them pull out the valve as will ko the tpms
Hope this helps you out

Won't they have to remove the valves/tpms as part of the refurb...sandblasting, dipping etc? Do they just have to be left in situ and covered up or something? Mind you, I guess an alloy wheel refurbishment specialist must know what they're doing!

They will need to be removed but they might put new valve stems on the refit the sensor you may want to ask the question

They can only put a bare wheel into the shot blast process because the shot is recirculated through the machine so out goes all the valves

The valves and sensors will have to be removed and new valves fitted after the refurb it’s false economy to use the old rubber valves as they invariably leak once they’ve been pulled from the alloy 👍

Can anyone tell me the colour of my alloys so I can buy touch up paint please.
They are Technical Grey (Le Mans) 19 inch. Not sure if that's an actual colour, or just their name. There are loads on Amazon, but which is the correct one?!
Thanks!
