Fight "the man".

So in another thread (the waxybox one) I mentioned that I felt that I was the victim of some injustice relating to an alleged traffic violation (driving in a bus lane outside permitted times). Aberdeen City Council are going mad with these just now!

The incident occurred on a bank holiday Monday and the attached photo demonstrates why I am somewhat aggrieved. The road to my left is an entrance to a petrol station which I am about to enter. Clearly the bus lane is broken for this purpose and for the crossing. Given that there is NO traffic on the roads I am clearly not using it to fast track to the end of the road. So...I am prepared to appeal this. As it stands, if I pay within 14 days then the fine is reduced by 50% to thirty bucks. If I appeal and lose then it's sixty. I think I have reasonable grounds for appeal. What do you guys and girls think?! :eusa-think:

Re: Fight

might be worth asking the garage if you can have the cctv footage to prove you turned in, you just know the council will argue that you cant prove you actually turned in.

Fight them, if you do end up paying £60 then at least you know you tried.
Another tack could be to find every person working in the office that deals with these and kick them in the bollox (even the female of the parking/bus lane departments have manginas)

Relating to another thread, I can't see the flaming image on Tapatalk! !!

I think in my accompanying letter I shall direct them to the aforementioned petrol station and also a copy of my bank statement showing the transaction. Hopefully that'll cover all bases.

Re: Fight

This is the problem with cameras, there is no human intervention  This might be an opportune moment to announce that the double flash that I received in Leeds the other week, did not result in a letter being received  So my licence remains clean.

Edited to make the sentence legible. (blame the vino collapso)

Re: Fight

for reasons known only to the blond part of my brain, this morning i decided to drive trough a red light ! no idea why im obviously just a complete mong :(

there was a flash behind me but on checking streetview there appears to be no camera ?

cue a very long day at work before i can drive back that way and do a physical check, hopefully it was just someone flashing the lights to let me know what a complete mong i was being.

Well...news just in...I just received a letter today to inform me that my appeal has been successful! It's a ridiculous place to site a camera and I was all set to request information from the freedom of information act to see how many other drivers had had their appeals granted should I have failed. It was the very principle of the matter. As Ron said, no human intervention and, in my opinion, no common sense prevailed when attempting this fine!!

lee...hopefully it was just a fellow driver. Put it out of your mind for now and keep us posted. I'm fairly certain that no cameras can detect someone driving through a red light and had it been the police then you'd have been tugged for it.

Re: Fight

Glad it worked out Riz :)

I watched something on TV not long ago about a McDonalds trying to fine someone for overuse of their car park but in fact, they driver just went there twice in the same day.
In the picture of them entering, it was the back of the car leaving on the first visit. And, then the leaving picture was the front of the car entering on the second visit.

Its just ridiculous at times.

There are cameras that are stationed at traffic lights to catch people jumping them. There are quite a few in Northampton, and I hate driving through as every junction and roundabout has traffic lights.

We do have more cameras than the rest of the world put together :(

Would be good to have huge TVs on the wall everywhere though :p And I think most of the population have had their emotions drained out of them lol.

Re: Fight

Clearly no traffic light cameras in Aberlaska then  They are very common down here. They even have cameras on junctions to catch people turning left/right contrary to road signage as well of course the yellow box cameras. Camera everywhere and not a copper in sight

Re: Fight

I wish they'd put cameras on STOP signs. I watch so many people ignore them. It's just wrong.
