There is a resonator box mid way.

Replacing this with a straight through will make the exhaust note more agressive.. but it will also increase the harshness.

But if you do it sensibly its easily reversible. Some people love it some hate the sound.

But it can be done very cheaply and keeps the original back box in tact.

Had my quads fitted last week and mentioned to the service manager about the fact that would be good to increase the noise. I said that I could remove the resonator (use straight through pipe and 2 joints) and he smiled and said..yes and we look for this as it invalidates your warranty. Apparently the dealerships have been told to look out for any changes as they expect them as this is a car screaming out for modifications. So the simple answer is...yes you can make it louder...you just lose your warranty

from what I've heard maybe taking the hit, getting some mods on and getting an independant warranty wouldn't be that bad an idea  Least it would alloy the car to sound less like a shopping trolley

Although on a plus note, 6500 miles in my car seems to be picking up a much better tone than when it was new..
