Greetings,

I am in need of some advice.

While driving in France, my RCZ-R 270 bhp, 2015, conked out. There was a sudden loss of power, but no noise, and when I pulled off the road, there was a lot of oil under the car. A diagnosis by a (French) Peugeot garage, found there was a hole in the sump that they thought had to have been caused by an internal issue, e.g. the con-rod somehow breaking free and doing the damage.

It's a weird one. The car only had 53,000 miles on the clock, was regularly serviced, no problem lights had come on; it was driving beautifully. I am heartbroken, because this was my favourite car from 50 years of driving and the risk is that repairs will cost more than its value. So, my questions:

Has anyone heard of such an occurrence with this engine? If I get the car brought back to the UK, can anyone give me an idea as to the cost of a second-hand/re-condiitoned engine and the labour involved in fitting it? When sourcing such an engine, can one know the mileage/age of it?

Any thoughts gratefully received.
