Hi guys.
Had my RCZ for a few months now and absolutely love it. Have had a problem with the diesel return cooler. Didn’t even know these things existed let alone how unprotected they are on the underside of the car. Was driving down to Blackpool but the traffic was hellish. Took the fleetwood exit on the m6 and that road is terrible. Hit a strange bit where the road was single lane with a strange camber and the car slammed down on the drivers side. Didn’t think anything about it again as car was driving fine but on the way back up the road the rain was terrible and I hit a puddle the heard a rattle. Pulled over at the services and saw what looked like a small radiator trailing. Placed it back where it looked like it belonged then headed off again. 2 miles later £90 worth of diesel emptied almost instantly from my tank and the engine management light came on. Car pulled and cut out and I managed to coast down a slip road to the next services. The repair cost 380, new cooler which had trailed along the road and shredded and the in out pipes needed replaced and the engine management light reset. Just a warning to all about how easily that wee radiator breaks and how close it is to the ground with no protection. Also cost me £200 for an Rac membership followed by an additional 100 to trailer it the remaining 60 miles up the road. Sorry the story is long winded but I googled and googled to try and figure out what it was that was broken and there’s very little on the net. Had never heard of it but apparently it’s getting more and more popular on Citroens/Peugeot etc.
