Crashed RCZ repair

Hello,

I was offred a crashed RCZ by a good price.
It has a lateral damage, and was looking for a opinion of someone experienced in this Peugeot model to evaluate the damage.

Heres a picture of the car:



Do you think this is beyond repair?

IMO this is a tricky one, if the inner sill is heavly damage i think it's not worth it, but if it's mainly the Body quarter/rear valance it's easily repairable.

What's your opinion?

I suppose it depends on price. Like Pete said, it's what you can't see that could cause the biggest problems.

If it's just what is visual, looks like a door skin, rear wing, maybe rear bumper, and the panel below the rear wing. Boot lid fit needs checking & operation of spoiler. Rear N/S tyre is down so might need a new wheel.

Depends on impact speed, might also need jigging, four wheel tracking.

If you are handy with cars or know a friendly body shop it might be worth a try - if the price is low enough, but I think if you are looking at going retail on repairs, it would need to be REALLY cheap to make it worth it. :eusa-think:

It would have to be a reeeaally good price.
Repairs even to something that looks to be body panel only, will be expensive. I would hazard that the rear panels are more difficult/time-consuming to replace that the front panel and door. and then there's the cost of the respray. Ths is obviously assuming the whole monocoque hasn't been bent out of shape, and you don't have suspension/tracking issues.
Then factor in what the insurance databases have logged against this car and any resulting drop in residual value if you come to sell.
It all adds up, and may end not be worth it, unless you work in the trade, or are related to someone who is.

From what you say, there is no insurance claim associated with this car?

Would be worth knowing which Category the damage is considered to be:

Cat A (can't be used again)
Cat B (can only be cannibalised for parts)
Cat C (can be fixed but cost at a pukka garage is too high - insurance company will sell it on to cut their losses),
or most likely Cat D (repairable at sensible cost).

For Cat D insurers say you MUST declare the repair or they can withhold payment on any subsequent claim even if not connected to the original damage.
