Hi, I'm just looking at a car that has had a Decat fitted but has a rattle and a slight leak, would this require a Cat fitting to be road legal and if so what would the approximate cost be?

It's got a very good MOT history but it has also had uprated coils, dampers disc's and brakes.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi, yes it would need a cat fitting to be road legal and also it would need the ECU software updating as this will have most likely been removed from the software. cost I'm not sure but it wouldn't be cheap probably better running as it is but obviously illegal and you may have problems come MOT time and there lies another point about your question, if his MOT station turns a blind eye to a decat what else may they have turned a blind eye to?
if you want a untouched car it may be wise looking elsewhere but if you know what your getting into then you take the risk.
good luck let us know how you get on.
