Changing RCZ Light Bulb - My Experience

Just want to share my experience in changing the light bulb in my RCZ to LED...

I have changed the following in my RCZ:

1. DRL
380 Ultimate Canbus 92 SMD LED Bulb
Options: Colour: White
Pack Size:: Pair

Results: Passenger side LED will NOT light up in low light mode (when you ON the main headlight at night). Sometimes both side LED will light up in full brightness, but when the LED is in low brightness mode (occurs randomly when you ON the main headlight), the one at the passenger side will NOT light up, while the one on the driver side will still light up. This is UGLY.

Solution: Always OFF and ON the main headlight, then the chances of the DRL LED in full brightness is 99%.

Troubleshoot: I have switched the LED at both side, same thing happened. HIDS4U is kind enough to send me a replacement, but still same problem. Doesn't solve the problem.

Conclusion: The LED model is NOT compatible for MY RCZ. However, as the original yellow bulb is TOOOOOooo ugly, I am willing to sacrifice for the slight inconvenient in having to turn the head light OFF and then back ON in Auto or at night.

2. Side Indicator Light
581 LED 360 degree Super Bright Indicator Bulb (pair)

Results: Not really bright. The signal flashes too fast, around 3-4 flashes per second. RCZ computer shows side indicator light FAULT. No good.

Solution: Changed back to the original light bulb.

Conclusion: The LED is NOT compatible for RCZ, or maybe an extra resistor is needed, but that will be a bit too complicated for me to mod.

3. Rear Brake Light
380 Ultimate Canbus 92 SMD LED Bulb
Options: Colour: Red
Pack Size:: Pair

Results: Good light, good indicator. Bright and working perfectly.

Conclusion: Compatible with RCZ.

All the above were bought from HIDS4U. Their service is good, but too bad the LEDs are not fully compatible.

Just sharing my experience. If you have found a fully compatible LEDs for RCZ DRL or indicator, please share.

Kho i feel slightly responsible for your dilemma as i recommended the drls and stop tail red lights

1.Do me a favour the rear stop tail bulbs install them in front dont put them in the headlamp housing just in the bulb holders and do the same with the white 380/92 put them in the rear lamp holders always do this with the ignition off tell me how you get on,this may have to do with the canbus system in the front white 380/92 smd bulbs. give a go mate and go through the normal lighting modes and see how the red bulbs function in the front lamp holders.

james

The front led drls DO not need to be of the canbus type kho ie... with a built resistor for the car to sense some bulb resistance in the circuit were as the rear stop/tail bulbs do if the red bulbs behave in a similar fashion as the white led bulbs if so its best to go for a non- canbus type led bulb like this one

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/380-super-brigh ... -bulb.html I am sure hids4u will do this exchange no problem and send the indicator bulbs back as well saying incompatible the company hids4u know you are from this site and its in there best interest to keep you happy and for would be buyers of these bulbs on this forum as i did contact them stating i was a MOD ;) ON THIS FORUM

Hi Jassy,

No blaming on anyone here, I am the one that should be responsible in buying the LEDs myself.

I actually did try out the RED tail light LED on the passenger side DRL just now, and the Red LED light up perfectly without dimming or brighten (I am not sure if it is in the brightest or dimmest condition, but the result is that the LED does light up constantly all the time, regardless of me ON or OFF the main light).

So, my thought is that the 380/92 is not compatible, and there might be a more suitable LED (like the tail light LED) for the front DRL.

kho :thumbup: the red stop/tail bulbs in the rear cluster are the exact same as the white drl bulbs the only difference is the colour mate so if the red bulb function correctly in the front and the white leds dont it must faulty bulbs again :eek: :eek: the link i put up on my other post are 380/60smds and non canbus not as bright but will work in the front drls no problems as for the indicator bulbs both paul 141 and zombie 1066 have changed their indicator bulbs not led but non yellow bulbs have a look at mr zombies thread of his entire front car bulbs
