Mini, Skoda and Volvo all offer nothing but a repair kit.
This is definitely becoming the norm these days.

As I've said in the past, for the last 10 years I've never had a spare wheel, just the foam, which has helped me out on two occasions.

It was interesting to view the programme about this foam stuff on watchdog. It really didn't come out well. If manufacturers want to cost cut and improve performance figures for marketing purposes then I think the very least they could do is offer a massively reduced promotional price for a spare or space saver (and i refer to ALL manufacturers with this statement). In going to make a point of negotiating one in my next car purchase. I'd be very peeved if I was paying out all that money on a prestige brand (BMW etc) and not getting one...unless I was buying the absolute tip of the range model. I think it's totally ludicrous personally.

I didn't see the Watchdog programme about this so can't comment on that. All I know is that the foam has certainly helped me in the past. The first time I ever used it was when I owned a scooter (before I learnt to drive 20 odd years ago). Got a puncture one dark night on the way home from work and had to push the scooter 5 miles home. Nearly killed me it did. Those things don't move very well with a flat tyre :(. My husband to be, bought me some foam, in case it happened again, which incidentally, it did and it saved me again then. For me, personally, changing a wheel is not my strong point and the horror stories of the jacking points on the RCZ, scare me to death, so to my mind at least with the foam, it's able to keep me moving.

I'm glad that it helped you out of a couple of potentially difficult spots in the past. You used to own a scooter? Were you a mod before you became a mod(erator). Please tell me it was a vespa and that you had a racoon's tail on it?! :D

Personally, I have no faith in this foam. I also wouldn't be that keen to change the tyre with the jack problems I have read on here. Still...isn't that why I have an AA membership?! ;)

I'm sorry to shatter your illusions but I'm afraid it wasn't a Vespa. Just a Honda scooter with a maximum speed of 30mph. 35mph if you were lucky enough to have a back wind :)

The C63 has a 'barra wheel' ... you need to go down the Merc route Rizz!

I was shocked at the price of the tins of gunk! They're about £25 off Ebay, so god knows how much they are off Peugeot.

I was also told that using the gunk also means it's less likely that the tyre can be repaired and it's makes a helluva mess of the wheel itself. That's why I upgraded my Peugeot Assist to cover the punctures - at least I should just get a tow to the tyre fitter/garage.

When I knackered my tyrewall last year, Steve screwed in a screw and held it down with masses of ducktape (!) just so I could hold air in it long enough to get to the garage. A very classy look!!

Supposedly the gunk Peugeot use, can be cleaned out and the tyre repaired but touch wood, I've not had the occasion to use it.

When I have used other gunk, it's not made a mess of the wheel, as it all goes inside the tyre

I do rather like AMG A-class. The other models I like are firmly outside of my price range!! :(

(hope that works!)
Too boring looking for my eyes. Kinda car you'd get if you was starting a family, but still want a decent drive.

Which is exactly what I'll be looking for. Totally disagree with your thoughts on the appearance of the car. In my opinion, it looks fantastic and it is going to pick up a lot of accolades this next year I would suggest.

For me, space saver should be the least they every car should have, NOT FORM.

Peugeot RCZ sucks as it don't have an option for space saver even if we want to BUY one. A full size rim is out of the question for it doesn't fit perfectly into the boot without inflating it, and the price is just way too much.

My friend has an A-Class on order, expected January.

I'm trying to refrain from convincing him to get the 2013 Seat Leon insteaed
