Buffering Disaster

Well I've done it now and it had to happen the day before the Yorkshire Meet.

Don't know if I buffered to hard or the paint got hot or what, but this is what happened.




Not content with doing it once, I followed up and did it again on my mirror mount.



Seriously anyone know someone who could sort this in the York area........ :helpme:

Looks like heat damage.

Never seen that before. What did you use an electric buffer ?

The big bit definately needs respraying.

Hope you get it sorted.

I'd agree, looks like heat damage.

Plastic components require a different technique to metal ones.

gonna give then a ring tomorrow and c what they can do me.

Want it sorted before Zeeland and while they're at it they can do the two stone chips aswell and maybe the scuffed wheel ( not me - previous owner ).

Always been ok as a rule, maybe just because on the plastic bits? Though I gave the back bumper quarter a right going over.

Done now.
Was just getting the scratches out, looked like an ice-skating ring in places.

They are right on edges which is why you've probably had the problem. A lower speed, a smaller pad and constant movement would have avoided it. You didn't use a wool pad did you ?

I didn't use the wool pad but did use the 6"+ foam pad, doing about 1500 - 2000 rpm.
Friday was a warm day so the car was already warm and in bright sunlight, all recipes for disaster but it had to be done for the meeting.
Providing I take care and the car stays scratch free it's not a process that I would be repeating anytime in the future.

How about seeing if it can be wrapped maybe as a temporary/permanent solution??
