Brake pads/discs RCZ R

Hi guys,

Currently own a 156HP RCZ and I'm considering upgrading to an R. Of course the running costs are a good thing to consider :D I've done some reasearch into the differences with my current RCZ and the main thing that worries me are the brake discs/pads. I read varying numbers as to how long they will last. Any R owners who like to share their opinion? Also: what do those things actually set you back?

Kind regards,

Sander

I've made the same move from the 156 to the R. Running costs are excellent so far. The R is more economical. I regularly get around 450 miles out of a tank of fuel (always use V Power). Insurance is £240 a year. Road tax is the same as the 156.

Not had a service yet but my dealer is quite reasonable so not too worried about that. Of course the brake discs and pads are going to be an expensive item when the time arrives but I am putting money aside for those sort of items.

For the grins per miles the R gives, this is a small price to pay, but one that has to be expected on a car like the R.

My theory is you only live once, so make the most of it :)

The normal running costs as already mentioned are very reasonable but , as a performance model , the performance bits i.e brakes and tyres will be more expensive . The front discs are £500 each and the pads roughly £250 for the front set . I have not found out how long they last yet but that will be down to how much you use them i suppose . There was a problem with the early cars and the part numbers changed for the front brakes to cure squeal and , in my case , premature warping. Luckily Peugeot replaced them under warranty as noted by other members . Overall a brilliant package , even though Clarkson`s criticisms were all true , and if you take it to Europe you will get a lot of attention because the Z is one the rarest cars out there , let alone the R . In 2000 miles i did not see another one . Now they have stopped making them snap one up while you can and enjoy !

All has been said here.

Based on my past over 31.000 miles with the R on the limit, both in regards of engine and the brakes, I'd anticipate a lifespan of at least 35.000 miles for the discs.
If driven "the usual way" I'd go as far as to say, they will last at least 3 annual services or as long as over 40.000 miles.
They only wear off quickly when pushed really hard (driven like on a track day).
