l have restarted one of the old habits from my Teens......and its not THAT....... Its buying car magazines again,l purchased a few at the Airport prior to going holiday a few ago,What Car,Car magazine, they really had some great head to head tests in them the new F type v the 911 cabriolet was one of them,New RANGE ROVER SPORT v PORSCHE CAYENNE........etc,etc,.........I then yesterday got Autocar magazine...........With the shoot out of the above cars, now they are all fine cars fantastics cars actually except maybe the beemer........soz Mac

My point l am try to make is...........This was the most unfair HEAD TO HEAD ROADTEST I HAVE EVER READ IN A MAGAZINE at this level HotHatchbacks..........The AMG retails at £38,000 basic.........Who buys a basic AMG...The golf...retails at £28,000...basic....The BMW on test retailed at £33,000 fully loaded...like most

AMG...355 BHP
M135I...315 BHP
GOLF GTI+ PERFORMANCE PACK........227 bhp

The Stats speak for themselves, All they spoke about was this AMG 45, "How it could take the golf at the slight press of the throttle"AND "once wound up,it could fly past the BMW with ease"

Now you dont have to be Sherlock to realise this......really Autocar magazine what planet are you ON, you'll be puting a RCZ r againts a veyron next.......

And what really annoys me MORE.........has anyone seen the dashboard on this car with its look a like aftermarket sat nav sat on top of the dashboard   The air vents wouldnt look out of place in a SAXO VTS.......as for the cars exterior styling goes although not as bad as the interior its just the same as a AMG STYLED 180 CDI

Give me the golf GTI anyday over the AMG,although not as fast, but is more usable day to day,it will hold its value better, its far better looking.

The AMG A45 is the fastest Hothatch to date but for how long........The new Focus RS is out next year as is the RS3 and no doubt Bmw will bring out a M Powered Hatchback.

Autocar...Magazine No thank you

The video Banter aint as bad the written text in mag, they do give some credit to both the golf and the M135I.One thing he said was "if money was no object he would have the AMG A45" If money was no object then most people woudnt give it 2nd glance and head on up the market,Another thing that wasnt mentioned because these Motoring journalist never have to bother with is........ Running costs,TYRES,MPG,INSURANCE, That AMG A45... 15-20 mpg easy,my Focus with Only 250 bhp is very difficult to keep it at 27 mpg and thats not even Red Lining the thing.

This whole test is ridiculous. Well...the inclusion of the Golf is at least. Fair enough the M series Bimmer against the A45 but firing a car in to make up numbers almost solely because of its size is farcical. I really genuinely do love the shape of the new A class...always have and the AMG tweaks are certainly impressive. However, 38 grand is a ridiculous price. I'd just buy a used RS4 or summat instead and keep money in the bank. The rear seats in the new A class are also laughable...no headroom if you're over about 5ft 6 and zip leg room. I love the A class but wouldn't even consider this car new...I also reckon the mpg this car will do will empty most people's savings.
